Just wanted to see if anyone has tried the FireFox Web Browser out yet. From what I have read it sounds really good. Built in sypware and pop-up blockers. And more secure than Internet Explorer. Anybody have any positives or negatives about this I am just curious.

excellant performance here,...I've gotten to the point I block any requests for internet explorer here when I get requests to pass thru my firewall and haven't seen a pop-up in months.

I'll give firefox a thumbs up too, although my favorite browser is still Netscape. I guess it's just a comfort level thing. I only use Internet Explorer for FTP and an occasional web page here at work (not by choice).

I tried it a little bit but didn't like how I couldn't put my favorite buttons on the bars up top where I wanted them. There's probably a way but I haven't had time to screw with it. I use IE everyday and never have pop-ups or virus problems. Guess I'm just lucky. Or I don't look at sites that typically run pop-ups like warez and porn sites or off the wall weirdo sites.
Edited to state that my online banking doesn't work in FireFox.

The "tabbed" web page feature is the tops! You can have a web page open...then "add" a new web page tab....go to whatever web page you want and then tab back and forth from one web page to another without having to hit the back button a million times...it's awesome.
And you can add as many new web page tabs as you want. There are other advantages as well.
However, I too find that occassionally certain web pages require IE...so keep it handy too.

I have been using it for months and I love it! It is my default browser I only use that other browser once in a blue moon. It is one of your best defences against spyware and popups.

I've been using it for all of 30 seconds & I love it already. Curtis convinced me long ago... but it took this thread to prod me into taking action. I googled there site, downloaded it & installed it in about 2 minutes. Closed IE, launched it, & it offered to import data from IE. Not only did it import my various settings, cookies, saved passwords & auto-logins.... but put my favorites links "on the bars up top where I wanted them" (try that Amy... relaunch or install & just allow import from IE) Was a pretty painless conversion & now I'll check out it's real advantages & go surf some porn

There was a good article on the Mozilla project in Wired magazine last month. Good interview with one of the programmers where I learned that Mozilla retains the legacy of all Netscape code and they just kept developing it under their new project.
What is now called Netscape is that in name only. No wonder I like Firefox.

I was lucky to be one of the beta users and felt instantly Firefox was a hit. It is rising quickly into double digits in market share. What does this mean? Money!!. Companies get paid via ads when doing searches. So even though Firefox is FREE. It is generating large amounts of income. So be it. A good product will return a good paycheck.
This along with Thunderbird email client is a great combination.

I liked it, pretty skin, seemed quite snappy and had some useful features. My system hated it and I've just had to dump it though it wasn't easy, it's a pernicious little swine. Couldn't get any sound from my CD player and it didn't handle cookies on this BB at all well. One minute I'd read everything. the next I'd read nothing. I wish I'd tried it on it's own for a while, before loading the java plugins it demanded. Anyway, it's gone and I can play some music again.

I use Firefox 99% of the time. I also switched over to Thunderbird for my E-mail. Now if I could only get Linux to work with my plotter and wireless card I'd have no more MS BS

FF & TB are great. (even with our bank- the bank won't recognise the browser it says, but everything still works)
I still can't get to Paltalk though. Maybe that's because of Firefox, & not XP? I doubt it, but there must be some reason.
