I got the word yesterday that all lacquers have been banned in Oklahoma...I knew it was coming, yet it caught me by surprize.
Thankfully my supplier "laid back" 3 cans of Lucite 467L flat base. I use it exclusively for flattening my Centari paints. While they make a flattner for Centari I found this to be far superior than those products.
The rate I use it (normally) the three cans laid back will get me through about 2 years, so I'm not too worried...that will give me plenty of time to find something else or at least get familiar with the Centari flattner.
The real shame is I have a recipe for getting my colors to just the right matte.
I love progress, I just wish it would leave me the hell alone!

Monte, my brother in law paints commercial buildings & such & is telling me that Pennsylvania is banning all enamel paints! If anyone out there, especially PA residents, have heard of this, let us know! I told him I haven't seen it on our Bullboard yet, & I find it hard to believe, but he says he has paperwork somewhere to prove it. Still waiting to see his papers.

Bobbie it was posted on this bullboard about 4 months ago about the oil based paints being taken off the shelves in PA.
Chris Welker or Jill Welsh would know more about this than I do though.

Or the next time you cross a state line there will be paint sniffing dogs at the borders to make sure you aren't trafficing paint stowed away in some hidden panel of your vehicle!

Here, in Canada, in the not-so-distant past, there were many places that you could take your vehicle to, and have your air conditioning serviced. Not so, these days. In it's wisdom, the Ministry of the Environment ( a government department) has mandated that any mechanic or individual must have special training....and a special permit just to buy and use the refrigerant (coolant) gasses required for this sort of work. The result has been that there are far fewer places that'll service air conditioning units of any kind, and because of the govt.-mandated redtape involved....it costs far more than it used to.
One has to wonder if that same sort of wisdom will trickle down and those same sorts of onerous and obnoxious regulations will apply to everyone using solvent-based paints of any type. 1-Shot may be exempt because it's a "professional type paint", but how long do you think it will take for some beurocrat to think: Hey...let's REGULATE this stuff , and everyone who uses it!!"

Professional Line???? how much more of professional line of paint could DUPONT Lacquers be?
Sorry but One Shot has already had to cave in to more EPA standards than they would like to just to stay ahead of the game...they are just as vulnerable as anyone else.
If they weren't we'd still have the old formula paints with plenty of lead content for coverage.

Eventually Vynul will be a dinosaur too (its made from hydrocarbons).
Im callin Joe Chiselheads to see if he knows how to sharpen a chisel for stone. We may end up back in the stone age once everything is banned. (then we will have the left wing stone huggers trying to save the stones too)
