I really enjoy reading the little motto most every 'Head has in their 'signature'. . .
Would it be a cute idea to have these signatures in a little book . . .they're always so insightful and humorous . . .many of them using humor to illustrate some very wise concept . . .
I was so pleased to come into Letterville and discover that I was quite normal by having a personal motto...John Deaton's motto, "I'm not weird, I'm gifted" is one I will have to share with others . . .and inspired me to ask if others would be interested in putting them down once and for all in book form . . .(future revisions would be necessary huh)
I often highlight them (with the personal name credit included) and e-mail to my non-Letterhead freinds, especially the ones who have always been incredulous about mine . . .
Also, how many have their motto on their vehicle and/or included on their sign, etc.??
Mine is subtley on the back window of my truck in one line of 1 1/4" lite grey, caps & sub-caps, just above the line of my tool box . . .if I had business cards and a sign (lol) it would be on those too . . .I am (still) thinkin' about gettin' small decals made for the finished signs . . .I been 'thinkin' about it for years tho' . . . wonder when I'll DO it??
ANYWAY . . .I love the motto's...they always make my day . . .

Funny that you should post this now, 'cause just last night I was thinking of using this one:
"Wow man, who needs dope".(I'm learning some really neat tricks in Corel Draw.)
There's one I've wanted to use for a long time, but didn't for obvious reasons:
"War is the continuation of politics by another means" Karl VonClausovitch. I like it not so much for political reasons, but because it talks about actions starting as thoughts.
Years ago, I decided my life's slogan is: "I need all the help I can get". I just wasn't in the mood to post it, like I said some things are obvious.

I always liked seeing that everyone had a quote in their signature. I was such an internet newbie when I discovered Letterville, & I thought the signatures with quotes were such a sign of a seasoned web savvy net guy, that I didn't seriously consider thinking up one for myself for a while.
I think someone started a post about "sayings" & I had found so much meaning for myself in those few little words I recalled from "Thelma & Louise" that I added them to that thread, & as I did, I realized I had found my signature quote.
In searching out times I have used the word "Thelma", I found those 2 "quote" threads shown above, but also confirmed for myself exactly why & when I chose my signature quote. It was inspired from this Swatsky post

That's peretty cool Doug . . .would you believe . .I have never seen that movie
Where I got mine was from a guy I knew who had done some 'printing practice' in high school...the motto I use now came from a stack of that stuff he gave me. It was about the same time I got my portable building and went full fledged into being self-employeed. He found the stuff when he was going through some old junk he had and thought I could use it because to him 'signs = printing'.
When I looked thru the papers, I thought, hey . . .that's pretty much the way it seems I be. . . I glued the 8 1/2 x 11 printed copy to a peice of plywood and hung it in the shop . . .It never occured to me at that time to LETTER it on a panel . . . lol....
It's pretty yellow but I still have it hangin' in the shop . . .

I don't know if this is on point but I heard a motto last night on TV that struck a chord with me. On the signoff from Discovery channel's program "Design on a Dime" the host said "because every budget deserved good design". That makes a ton of sense to me and is what I try to tell my customers, but not as eloquently. I may have to adpot that one for myself.

I choose my motto to refelect the positive things in life. My chosen occupation is certainly one of them.
BUt currently my motto reflects the new role I get to play... one of grampa... the best job I've had to date.
