Google has implemented a new feature wherein you can type someone's telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and then you will be given a map to their house. Everyone should be aware of this!
Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. Before forwarding this, I tested it by typing my telephone number in google. com. My phone number came up, and when I clicked on the MapQuest link, it actually mapped out where I live.
If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging your private information, simply click on the telephone icon next to your phone number. Removal takes 48-hours. If you are unlisted in the phone book, you might not be in there, but it is a good idea just to check. If your number does come up if you hit map, it will show you a direct map to your house...
I realize some will find this a useful tool and others will feel intruded upon. Take it how you wish.

Thanks Rick, Our address isn't shown in the local phone directory and when I checked on Google, it only shows our name and the city, not the exact address. Thanks for the heads up, it's a good thing to check.

it's been like that for a couple of years now. the only new part is the map link right next to the search answer. it used to only have the address or phone number, and you then would have to copy/paste information into one of the map or "people finder" services. if you have lived in the same place for any length of time, own property, or have other relevant information on city/county/state/federal documents, it's always been public access (to a point of going to find it). it's just gotten easier to find with today's technology (ie:computers/internet). Google is offering an opt out, which is nice on their part.

MSN has a similar thing, called "reverse number lookup". Useful for me in that my Caller ID only shows the number and the time the call came in. A lot of the time there is no message, and I like to know who called.

Holy s***! Thanks for the heads-up, Rick. GD swarming vermin. The day will come when people will pay to have their phones listed, rather than unlisted.
