Back in 1988, I was in the top 50 deadlifters with a lift of 633 pounds in the US. I was a state record holder also. Ive had cartoons published in Boys Life, CARtoons, Saturday Evening Post, National Enquirer,Globe, and a few others. I played in a band called Thunder Ridge with three of my best friends for over 20 years. We once opened a show for Loretta Lynns daughter Sissy Lynn. Our drummer toured with Country Star Johnny Russell for two years. Our guitar player is now a writer in Nashville and has a song on Billy Gillmans new album. You can hear some of his stuff here: Bo Allen Ill probably get ribbed for this one, but I am the local Elvis impersonator. Yep, got the suit and everything. I can sing about 80 of Elvis' songs. I do shows for local charities and festivals and such. IVe actually made good money doing it.

Many years ago I was the production manager for concerts at a major theme park. One day a this cute litle girl came in with travelling crew and stayed dowstairs and played piano all day, past by her many times, had dinner with her, chatted with her. During show I go out front and look on stage, she was Debbie Gibson! Her fast rise to fame was just beginning. Nice girl! Got picture of 11yr old nephew being snuggled between Dolly Parton's ... well you figure em out. Argued with Patty LaBelle between shows. Was first onstage when Frank Sinatra fainted onstage during performance in Richmond. As I passed stagehands I had Emergency crew called and stopped Jr and band. Spooky looking at sold out show, everyone standing looking at you, frank jr and Frank sr. He died shortly after. Had blender stolen from onstage after Jimmy Buffet concert on Saturday night, he wouldn't play sunday until blender was replaced! As I always say, you gotta have principles! Many other intros, auto's and same proximities, just can't think of now.

did I mention that LeAnn Rimes held my hand & sang "Unchained Melody" to me ? (well, to me & 1,500 others) unfortunately, my wife was in the Ladies room & missed it - she still don't believe me - I almost got her ring - that big blue topaz she was wearing after the song "Blue" hit - I did have pictures but my little girl got ahold of the camera & double exposed them - still have 2 good shots, though - -

everybody's stories are great, but I think my favorite is Sheila being so stoked that her parents saw her playing music. That just struck me as such a true moment of significance.
I met George Lucas a few years back at a party for Lucasfilm Licensees and got the opportunity to speak with him for a few minutes. At the time I was Creative Director at Hope Industries where I'd designed a line of Star Wars watches for the classic trilogy. Because of this I got to visit Skywalker Ranch, which is just outside San Francisco, on numerous occasions and attended a number of parties they threw as well.
At the end of my conversation with Mr. Lucas, which was about who was going to score the soundtrack for Episode 1, I asked him to sign a C-3PO watch I'd designed, and was quite pleased when he agreed to do so.
Immediately after, Star Wars guru extraordinare Steve Sansweet emphatically informed me, "You're incredibly lucky Paul! George never signs anything!"

"Who's John Galt?"
Prior to Clinton's election, I ran into Geraldine Ferraro who was stumping for him on the sidewalk in New York City.
Not one to pass up the opportunity to be a wise guy, I planted my tongue firmly in my cheek and asked her, "I was wondering…Have you ever read the works of Ayn Rand?"
She stammered for a second and said, "Oh yes…I believe I have.", to which I replied, with as much irony as I could muster, "You should read them again. I think you'd really like them!"
If you've ever read "Atlas Shrugged", you'll know just how silly it was to even ask her about Ayn Rand.

I donated a carved mirror to the Notre Dame football department, commemorating the University's 150th anniversary. My son, Josh, and I visited then coach Lou Holtz in one of the most famous football coaches' office in the world. Josh told me later that when the coach shook his hand, he almost fainted. (not Holtz, but my kid )
It was all pretty cool for a couple steadfast ND fans, and a few days earlier, ND had reached no.1 in the polls. Perfect time to be there.
