Has anyone bought software off ebay? What about the more expensive ones like Photoshop, CorelDraw and etc.? The prices are better than what you buy direct from adobe or others. IS this illegal to buy or sell this software? If I buy this software, can I get in trouble with the law?

Adobe will allow a "transfer of ownership" agreement to filled out by the previous owner. I bought my first copy of Illustrator from a friend who had no further interest in using the software. I;ve been able to upgrade the software several times myself.
I think mosts ebay sellers would not offer to fill out this form, which of course only works if they have a legal license to transfer. But if they are legal, & willing to sign over that registration, then it should be fine.

I've bought PhotoShop 4, 5.5 and 7, Quickbooks Pro 2000 & 2002, and CorelDraw Graphics Suite off of Ebay with no problems. I did get burned a while back on QB 2002 and got a pirated copy. I turned the guy in to ebay and haven't never seen him since.
I have since learned to make sure and ask ahead of time if it can be registered in my name and if it has its own code. I also only buy when it comes in the box, with manuals and paperwork. I also make sure that the seller has sold ALOT of stuff with good feedback. But that isn't always a sure guarantee.
After I got the pirated copy, I went back to some buyers that were buying from this guy and told them that I had just gotten an illegal copy. Most of them just said "So what."
The lady that I bought QB 2002 had it because she had some deal where she was able to buy 2 brand new copies. My box hadn't even been open. It had a $100 rebate and I think that I bought it from her for $150. I got the rebate back too.

I purchse softs all the time from EBAY. and never had a problem.. Most of it is OEM softs and no manuals. Costs less but then after you buy a manual, and shipping it starts to approach the regular cost.

Picked up a version of CorelDraw version 8 on Ebay as an upgrade route to get version 12. Checked the history of the seller, sent an email to the seller to confirm that it was what I thought it was. Paid my money, took my chance, and saved $200 vs buying version 12 outright when it all worked!
In all Ebay transactions I use a saying my dad is fond of using. Looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, its probably a duck! If something about an auction just doesn't feel right, seem right or look right, or if information is missing....its bad!
Just my experience

We bought Corel it was listed as full version then showed up as an upgrade. We contacted Corel and they helped us out big time. The end result was they got the seller to pay the difference.---whew!

Only bought genuine boxed stuff, registerable, well-priced, no problems.
