After five months and four claims (so far), Avery has responded to one claim, which gave me a total of $145.00 in credit for a job that sold for $425.00. Now I'm re- doing a 20' trailer worth 5x that and I'm getting no response. Just wondering how others are making out.

My local Avery vendor has done nothing but work with me to help resolve my problems to a reasonable level of satisfaction.
Try contacting the people you buy your vinyl from rather than Avery themselves. If your vendor is'nt willing to help you. I would stop dealing with them and secondly I would contact Tim Doyle from Avery and tell him about your vendor being less than helpful. Ask Tim what he can do to help resolve your problem. Keep in mind that some claims are false and could be attributed to things other than the vinyl itself.
Good Luck

We only had a couple of "problem" applications with the oft-aforementioned Avery products. As we were instructed to do, we documented those vehicles, contacted our vendor (Vinyl Sign Supplies), and were issued credits on our materials and labor within days.
I think I was treated very fairly, and consienciously by both my vendor and Avery. I'm still using Avery products today, and I'm getting over it all.

Thanx for the feedback. I did talk to an AVERY rep today. Yes, they will issue a credit for the materials and labor, but is that really fair? I'm doing the same job twice plus the added time of removing the #$*(@&$*# vinyl...which in the case of this trailer, took 8 hrs! Would I accept time and materials from an insurance company if my customer had damaged the vehicle and it needed to be re-done? (is that a word?) Avery's warranty applies to the vinyl you expected to purchase not an inferior product. Therefore...they are responible for paying us whatever we would charge the customer.

Actually, if you read Avery's warranty statement, (and I've yet to find a vinyl manufacturer or reseller whose warranty is too far off...), we should really be greatful that they're working with us at all. There's really no expressed gaurantee as to how long any product will last in any application.
Granted, the situation was, and is, a bad scenario; but I'm impressed thus far with Avery's handling of the whole thing. They could have told us all to go rub rocksalt.
I'm not defending what they may or may not have done, but I DO COMMEND what they're doing.

What the heck do you want? You already got paid for doing the trailer once, Avery is sending you material and cash to re-do it again and you still want more because you don't think that is fair? LOL!!! Incredible.
I think that you had better get to get used to the idea that life isn't fair. It never was. It never will be. My Daddy taught me that. I could have sworn that was part of "Parenting 101".
I had several jobs, no, make that a bunch of jobs, fail because of Avery vinyl. I replaced the work because I stood behind my work because I am a professional. Thirty one years of making signs has taught me that nothing is perfect and mistakes happen. It is a measure of a man in how he reacts to the adversity.
Avery acted, in my opinion, in a stand up manner. I got replacement material and $XXXX (That is between me and them) for the labor. It sure as heck beat a sharp stick in the eye. Avery honored their warranty and a went beyond what they had to.
Personally, I still like Avery material. I have used it almost exclusively for years and will continue to use it.
I can only imagine how you would feel if you ever screwed up a job and your customers held you to the same extreme sense of "fairness" you deem yourself to deserve.
Maybe your customer will demand that you pay for a rental trailer while you have to re-letter their work trailer. Boy, now that would be fair, right? What?!?! You don't think so? Oh. c'mon, Thom. You honestly expect to hold yourself to different standard?
I can't share your view of this all. I believe I got treated fairly in all of this. Avery could have done a better job at the damage control end of things. That was bad business. Taking care of it in the manner they have is just good business and they are trying. Just not to your satisfaction or your sense of fairness.
Have a great one!

right on Bruce! I was typing a reply the same time as you, & ended up deleting it, though I did feel I had something that should be said. You said every bit of it, & better then I would have
But as Randy said, welcome aboard Thom... we don't all agree all the time, but this is quite an incredible board here, so we'll probably be seeing you around some. Take care.

Hey Thom, Welcome to the board. We couldn`t get any satisfaction from our supplier. They insist that it was an isolated instance of one small batch of vinyl. They want us to provide them with the invoices, batch numbers and original boxes that the vinyl came in. Maybe some of you are that organized. We`re not!. What we have done is toss out our Avery and we are not planning on buying any more. So far we`ve only had a couple problems with redos . We did have a bunch of vinyl shrinking on the roll though. Any of you guys wanna buy some vinyl cheap? I can`t imagine buying any more product from Avery until they find out what the problem was,fix it,and tell us what it was. Until that happens I`ll err on the side of caution and buy from someone else.I got burned in the Coburn thing back in the 80`s and won`t use their vinyl either.

Some have stated that their supplier is giving them the run-around and as a result they're holding that against Avery. Call Avery!
If you buy a new truck & get the run around from the dealer, do you blame the manufacturer? When we bought the Durango, the woman at the dealership totally screwed up the paperwork for it, then didn't want to fix it. I'm not swearing off Dodges because of her being a twit.

As yet I have had no complaints, but I used Avery almost exclusively last summer and am just waiting & hoping. I did have one roll that was shrinking. Neither one of my suppliers had heard anything about Avery problems as of November/December. I'm just not gonna buy Avery anymore. It's a shame, because I really used to like it. Gonna stick with CrazyJacky and Arlon or Gerber for HP, Oracal for intermediate. Love....Jill

Is this anyway to treat a visitor? Well, after some careful investigation I've discovered that Bruce and possibly Doug, are in reality, AVERY reps! They are being paid by Avery to "quiet" any trash talk! If you want proof...well ...I can't reveal my sources...
(Just havin fun folks) See ya around the water hole.
