Anyone have a work around for the problem Microsoft created with service pack 2 ? [I Don t Know]

If you type "ABC" you get multiple copies of the letters so your text reads something like "aaaaaaabbbbbbbbbccccc". Supposed to be some hole in the security that windows fixed in service pack 2, [Bash] yet all I see they did is broke my Signlab.

Signlab version 6.0 revision 1

I left a message with their tech support people and got a message left on my machine by their sales people, sounds like they want to sell me the fix....probably not going to happen folks.

Since this is the 3rd version of SignLab I have bought over the years I sure hope there is a work around. I go back to the old old DOS days with this product, still have my serial # 3083 dongle from those days and feel their is no better sign software, but microsoft sure put the screws to this.

It was an honor and priveledge to warn others here about certain programs having problems with XP SP2. I posted several weeks before the release of SP2 that there would be problems especially with dongled systems. I had to laugh when a few emailed to say I was making rediculous or paranoid predictions..

Anyway,,,
It wasn't entirely microsofts fault. Some software vendors did not adhere exactly too M$'s guidlines. Software is not entirely written by one company. Often a package is composed of modules written by others who may not follow guidelines either. For example, many companies purchase their scanning modules and their installer modules, and their tracing modules then incorporate them into a full package.

Go to SignLab's site ,, they have some updates for SL v 6 that might fix your problem. They are FREE!!

Long before posting here, I tried the uninstall of the hot fixes and am basically down to removing SP2 as a last resort. The Signlab site specifically says there is not a work around for version 6.0, but the way the whole paragraph is strung together you have to read it a couple times to figure what versions are OK and which are not.

I am going to reload a fresh pre SP2 version of the OS and clean Signlab and let it be I guess.

Mike, why not update Signlab while you are at it? e6.1 is up to revision 17.

I had the same trouble & posted it on here few months ago. I took the SP2 OUT of my system, & my Signlab has been working just fine.
