Happy New Year everyone!
I just bought the Gerber Sabre router and I have a few questions for you routing professionals out there, although I won't post all of the questions at once.
What is the secret to cutting small letters, such as helvetica medium 1" tall, utilizing "push through"? To clarify, due to the thickness of the router bit, 1" letters become "rounded" on the sharp inside angles, and therefor do not perfectly match the "male" letter cutouts, since the bit is able to complete sharp angles since it is cutting on the "outside" of the letterform, not the "inside".
Did you have to read that 3 times...I did!
Anyway, thanks in adavnce for any help.
D.

Dan-
Is it possible to round off the outside corners to match?
If not I just use a flat file to sharpen inside corners on routed pieces.
Good luck,
C & B

In your male and female cutout boxes there is a box for auto inlay, it matches the corners depending on the bit used. There is a section in the manual thet covers it. There is no way to get a sharp inside cut with a round bit. 1" helvetica cut out should be fun. [Mad]

Dan....Assuming you have omega software go to artpath then either the male of female cut screen you'll see auto-inlay in the lower left cormer. this program will automatically round both inside and outside corners for a perfect fit. Put.000 for shoulder width and height for a complete push through. Another way to do the job it go to your tool section click on fillet corners and click in .063 for inside and outside corners. thats if you're using a .125 bit. did that make sense?

We successfully use a 1/16" diameter bit in thin plastic (Up to about 3/16" thick) I've heard of 1/32" bits as well. For the 1/16" bits we use the Gerber Gold bits.
