Today we were shooting a bunch of pictures in the shop of various projects we have underway. We got lots of great shots as we document the projects at various stages... more on that later. This one turned out especially cool.
The picture is of Dave doing some grinding on the monster sign. I love the way the monster is looking at what Dave is doing.

Cool! I reminds me of the tin man my grandfather made. If I forget it is there it can be scary. I will find the photo if you want to see him. Yours is much more detailed and modern.

The wagon up on the beam is actually the soapbox my kids made when they were younger. The running gear is from a classic old wagon. I welded a steering wheel on it for them. It has tons of happy miles on it.
When they were done with it I hid it away for the next generation. When I did up the new shop I built some mounts onto the top of our lift beam and bolted the wagon up there as a display piece.
When Phoebe gets a few years older it will come down to be enjoyed once again.
I did a number of drawings and paintings of our kids playing with it... and look forward to doing some more when the next generation does too. The original drawings still hang in our living room and are enjoyed by all who see them... especially me.

When I was in my twenty's and early thirties I made my living by doing pen and ink drawings and limited edition prints. We did well and had about 150 editions of prints - most of which sold out. It was a fun gig and a great way to make a living.
I still draw a lot and still sell the odd commission and edition of limited edition prints - mainly to corporations these days.
I also did numerous drawings featuring our kids in action and in the process documented our own kid's childhood. These drawings are displayed on our walls and are treasured - especially for their sentimental value. This is one of four or five in a series which featured the soapbox which the kids built. The police officer was a friend who kindly posed for the picture. This particular piece is titled "Friendly reminder"
There are lots of other ones too, on swings, on their bikes and other stuff.
I can hardly wait to do one of Phoebe in action!
