Congratulations Dan, you will have such an awesome time with her. One of my 4 grandchildren turned 3 yesterday. We had a great sleighride on the weekend for his birthday. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas ( I know it will be) and a great New Year!

Oh what a blessing! She's gonna think that of you too when she is old enough to understand she has such a special gift for a grandpa...I can't wait to see all the new stuff you create from the inspiration she brings...Enjoy her.

I realise that to many it might be hard to believe... but little Phoebe somehow got much, much cuter in the short time since I last saw her.
When I visited this morning Rebecca was doing great.
Phoebe seemed very glad to see her grampa. I just knew it!
Did I mention that overnight she had gotten even cuter. She is very alert, constantly peering around the room. Her toes and fingers are long and slender (a Sawatzky trait). She has lots of dark hair. Oh yeah... and she's very cute!
I took a bunch more pictures and cuddled her good. I had to of course wrestle her away from Janis who also kinda enjoys holding Phoebe, but I am known far and wide as a baby hog... a reputation I have fought hard for and earned.
I can attest to the fact that being a grandparent is a whole lot of fun. I highly recommend it!

I agree, Dan, she did get cuter from the time it took me to scroll down to the second picture. Congratulations to all your family. I can't think of a better Christmas present.

Thanks so much to you folks for sharing our joy on this happy occasion.
Phoebe will live a short six blocks from grandma & grampa's house. Rebecca and Phoenix both work in our family businesses... and you can guess that means little Phoebe will play a HUGE part in our lives and us in hers on a very regular basis.
What an AWESOME opportunity for us!
Its a job I take seriously. It's my hope to keep her head and heart full of wonder, wishes and hope. I'll teach her that dreams can come true if we dream hard enough and work hard to make them so.
She will grow up loved beyond measure. Hugs will be the order of every single day.
I look forward to playing with her, learning to assemble fantastical creations with Lego, teaching her to ride a bike, watching her perform on a stage, and a thousand other things kids do as they grow up. Doll houses, play houses, tree forts, go carts, whatever, will all be wonderfully and imaginatively created.
I look forward to wonderful birthday events to celebrate her special day. (which she shares with her dad)
Christmas will be a time of wonder and celebration at our house as we make it special for little Phoebe.
She will grow up in a place where imagination rules, where almost anything is possible if we take the time to figure it out. Phoebe will live in a small town and still be a part of a HUGE world. She will be surrounded by music, art and animals.
This is going to be fun!
Thanks for your support and for sharing this fun event!!!

Can't read all the repies now, and someone might have already said it, but I was driving and thought about Phoebe and her welcome into the world and that I wish I had said to her in my own little welcome;"Prepare to be enchanted".
I get so maudlin when little new people join us.

Congratulations Dan! She may slow you down a bit until she can walk and then you can have your hands free. I predict you two will be a creative combo with her showing you special things thru a child's eyes.
