I've been in a rather Ba Humbug mood lately until I found some interesting holiday music on iTunes. If you have the software, check out the holiday streams and Xmas in Frisco. Lets just say that it's an eclectic mix of holiday music, but very entertaining. They've been playing everything from Shirley Temple to AC/DC holiday music and everything in between; country, rap, blues, you name it, they got it. Some funny music, some traditional and some stuff is just so far out there that kids (and some uptight adults) just shouldn't hear. It gets 2 thumbs up in my book
Merry Christmas!

LOL Joe. They played the barking dogs since I posted. They also have cats meowing jingle bells. Last night I heard 3 versions of the grandma got run... song. They also played the 12 days of Christmas by Jeff Foxworthy.
Cheers!

Check out "Father Christmas" by The Kinks, kind of a fun punk tune.
Also Joe Perry (of Aerosmith) has an instrumental version of Blue Christmas that's probably better than the original.
Here's the lyrics from The Kinks song:
When I was small I believed in santa claus Though I knew it was my dad And I would hang up my stocking at christmas Open my presents and I’d be glad
But the last time I played father christmas I stood outside a department store A gang of kids came over and mugged me And knocked my reindeer to the floor
They said: Father christmas, give us some money Don’t mess around with those silly toys. We’ll beat you up if you don’t hand it over We want your bread so don’t make us annoyed Give all the toys to the little rich boys
Don’t give my brother a steve austin outfit Don’t give my sister a cuddly toy We don’t want a jigsaw or monopoly money We only want the real mccoy
Father christmas, give us some money We’ll beat you up if you make us annoyed Father christmas, give us some money Don’t mess around with those silly toys
But give my daddy a job ’cause he needs one He’s got lots of mouths to feed But if you’ve got one, I’ll have a machine gun So I can scare all the kids down the street
Father christmas, give us some money We got no time for your silly toys We’ll beat you up if you don’t hand it over Give all the toys to the little rich boys
Have yourself a merry merry christmas Have yourself a good time But remember the kids who got nothin’ While you’re drinkin’ down your wine
Father christmas, give us some money We got no time for your silly toys We’ll beat you up if you don’t hand it over We want your bread, so don’t make us annoyed Give all the toys to the little rich boys

I really don't think most of you know what "bahumbug fatigue" is unless you too worked at an amusement park called Santa's Village. Solid Christmas music from May to October and November thru December made me the way I am today. lol

I'm a firm believer in the twelve days of Christmas, I'll even go as far as to extend another twelve days pre-Christmas season, still means that I don't want to hear anything about Christmas, or any Christmas music, prior to December 12th (begrudgingly) or after Jan. 5
BS rampant commercialism has taken over, your grandparents never celebrated Christmas until it actually arrived.

"I Believe In Father Christmas" by Emerson, Lake and Palmer
They said there'll be snow at Christmas They said there'll be peace on Earth But instead it just kept on raining A veil of tears for the Virgin's birth I remember one Christmas morning A winters light and a distant choir And the peal of a bell and that Christmas Tree smell And their eyes full of tinsel and fire
They sold me a dream of Christmas They sold me a Silent Night And they told me a fairy story 'Till I believed in the Israelite And I believed in Father Christmas And I looked at the sky with excited eyes 'Till I woke with a yawn in the first light of dawn And I saw him and through his disguise
I wish you a hopeful Christmas I wish you a brave New Year All anguish pain and sadness Leave your heart and let your road be clear They said there'll be snow at Christmas They said there'll be peace on Earth Hallelujah Noel be it Heaven or Hell The Christmas you get you deserve
It's one of my favorite songs and a truly beautiful one that doesn't get overplayed at this time of year...thankfully. Rapid

If you like xmas on the dark side take a listen to an aussie bloke by the name of Kevin Bloody Wilson. His xmas songs use a few choice four letter words that aren't generally used in so called "polite company"! You should be able to find him if you do a google search.
My personal favorite for xmas is one by The Pogues, dunno the name of it but they only do one christmasy one. I have to say there are "12 days of xmas". It seems that the stores here start advertising mid November. Come December I'm over it already!! My mother in law is Scottish and it's meant to be bad luck to have your decorations up before the 12 days start. It's also bad luck to have them up any longer than 12 days afterwards. Seems like plenty long enough to me!

I think the one you're talking about is Fairytale Of New York Anne, it's a fave of mine as well. Sadly Kirsty McColl who sang it with Shane MacGowan got run over by a speedboat in Mexico while on holidays if memory serves.

And... Let there be peace on earth And let it begin with me. Let there be peace on earth The peace that was meant to be. With God as our father Brothers all are we. Let me walk with my brother In perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me Let this be the moment now. With every step i take Let this be my solemn vow. To take each moment And live each moment With peace eternally. Let ther be peace on earth, And let it begin with me.
But these aren't the only ones....
