I installed a sign the other day with my nephew helping me, and it had to straddle a ditch. My boots were wore out and leaked horribly. Now I am SICK! Glands are sore, throat scratchy, nose running and clogged up, and coughing too. I feel like SH**! Doc gave me antibiotics for the throat, etc. Cold will just have to work its way out. In the words of the immortal Yosemite Sam, OOOOOOOOOO, I hates this dagnabbit! Going home early. Yall have a good day.

...While I play one on TV, I'm NOT a real doctor...
...But my diagnosis is that I don't think you can get a cold from having wet feet (or being cold). I think you have to introduce the bugs through your eyes, or mouth.

Billy's right, John. The wet feet simply add to your misery. Go home and rest, drink plenty of fluids (if you can) That's the only thing for it. Feel better soon, guy. Love....Jill

Yep.. wet soggy feet or bein out in the cold doesn't give you a cold. It just makes you cold.
Colds are cause by viruses, which only enter your body through the nose via airborne particles from sneezes or coughs (or transfered by hand somehow) and can NOT be killed with antibiotics.

John, I feel for you. I've got it too. Couldn't even get out of bed yesterday. I seem to be on the upswing today but still feel pretty darn lousy.
Hang in there.

. . .My Mama always told me goin' barefoot in the cold, or goin' out in the cold with wet hair, or gettin' my feet and clothes wet in the cold, or drinkin' somethin' cold, gettin' chilled in any kind'a way, and basically BREATHIN" cold air would make me die with pneumonia . . .
Even when I was an adult, if I had a cold or somethin' she'd say, "UH-UH!! You was workin' out in that COLD!! You won't listen..." (If I was sick in the summer, she blamed me for bein' in the AC, lol)
I think she's the one who invented the term "cold" for being sick due to cold anything.
But I STILL ain't figgered out how ALL the colds I get are from basically NEVER doin' those things anyway. . . . .

Let's blow our noses & clear things up a bit
Yes viruses cause colds. But...chilling the body is like feeding a flame. A cold virus does not like warm temperatures. This is why we run a temp, it is our body fighting the nasty little buggers.
So...technically speaking John got cold feet so the virus attacked!
John, eat plenty good soup and get well soon. Our prayers are with you.

My Grandma always said that we would get "Sickendie". It took many years befoe I learned "Sickendie" isn't actually a disease.
So, to all you sick ones out there, I have two things to say. First, I pray for your recovery and that you all feel better soon. Secondly, stay the hell away from me... until you are etter anyways.

All of your customers just called. They are complaining that you have selfishly taken off of work, just to be sick, while their projects go unfinished.

John, you got a health-food place nearby? Got get yourself a tincture of echinacea and golden seal, comes in a little bottle with an eyedropper. Take a dose of this stuff in a hot beverage (coffee or tea covers the taste - it's not pleasant!) about three times a day.
My girlfriend came down with a nasty head cold on Sunday; I dosed her with this stuff all day Sunday and Monday and as of this morning she's got no symptoms. I take it myself when I'm around someone who's sick, and it seems to knock out the infection before it catches hold.

lots of "jewish penicillin"! (chicken soup, don't forget the garlic!). It works everytime! (the echinachea is wonderful and it's good to keep on hand.) Lots of clear fluids, rest, and wool socks! If that doesn't work, stay in bed three days and don't call me in the morning! Hope yer feeling better soon!
