Lots of hugs to every one of you! My day is wonderful thanks to you guys! am on my way to B.B. King concert with my sis and brother, and will be back later. This has been an awesome day to remember. God Bless you all!
I'm back!
... well it's about 12 midnight and my 51st bday is blending into a new day...I only wish you were there tonight. I was thinking of you and your birthday wishes as B.B. stole my heart tonight (again). Also, it's quite an honor receiving posts from you. Here's a link to the coronado theatre in our town http://entertainmentdesignmag.com/news/show_business_four_theatre_projects I guess I got a dose of vitamins (Gee I feel much younger now. It was so nice of BB to make a special trip to Rockford. Now, I am truly inspired to do more with my life and keep the music playing more often.
We just returned from the concert and I want to tell you, I was trying to think of a way to bring it home to you. Do you ever go someplace special and you just can't wait to share it with Letterville?
Well, for me, among the no one contenders on my list of male singers is BB King, then Eric Clapton.
For those that don't know B.B. King, you're really missing this. He's even "better" than ever at 79 years old. He looks great!!!!!!! Only I wasn't prepared for the experience that I had tonight. It's really hard to describe.
His voice was as though he'd had it preserved in time. It was not only flawless and youthful,he could bellow out those blues so loud, I think he may be training swimming with Jack LaLane all these years? What a set of lungs and vocal chords! I thought at his age, his voice may be a ltad bit raspy, and I was 100 percent mistaken. His voice was flawless:) How could I have underestimated him? He has not aged a bit, except he sat down to entertain us (since he has a little arthritis and diabetes), and he shared that with us. It was just as though he invited us into his living room. He's for real, he put his soul right out there. It was no act. this guy's for real. (and he asked if he could come back here. Guess our town treated him well.
BB's immense passion he puts into the exquisite performance. What a loveable guy. At least a thousand folks from Rockford must have been there. And, he was singing Rock me Baby, Rockford. It was sold out for sure, but, it would have been easy to attract thousands more, although they chose to have BB entertain in a more than special place which has limited seating.
B.B. King hasn't lost his incredible sense of humor as he had us all rolling, and oh, what blues he sang with his guitar Lucille! Tonight was the time of my life, and, he also has been blessing in our family all my life. When I first heard his music I was still playing with ragdolls and my brothers boy toys too. My parents were big jazz and blues lovers. When I saw B.B. last, he played at my high school prom more than 3 decades ago. I had to say I was thoroughly amazed that high school kids chose him. They were into the Monkies or Led Zepplin, Beatles, etc. But, I was one that was really into Blues. Most of the kids didn't even know who he was until they arrived. I just couldn't figure it out how other high schools would usually have a rock band or beach boy type of thing, but, BB King? King of BLues, I knew the parents and faculty must have been the engineering this since "they" grew up with it. I was one of the happiest 17 year olds that June summer night.
B.B. I have to say, is as classy as ever. His band was excellent and he treated them very special like family
Tonight, BB and his awesome band had every nerve and every chandelier crystal shaking to the beat! He even had the mice breakdancing behind the amps. BB played and sang mostly solo for half the time with a little backup. He didn't stop for two hours! His stamina is a definite mark of his soul.
BB even brought his beautiful daughter. She came out and kissed him before he started and stayed right by his side right next to the curtain. The band had everyone clapping, boogeying and rip roaring in our seats. What a class A act. BB and the sax player and band manager showed how they shake it up. A couple dance moves for a nightcap. The blue and green stage lights played on his shiny shoes to light up the room as he never sat too still for more than three minutes.
This is the best bday I've had for years. They just keep getting better and better. I'm just glad when I can get up in the morning and see the faces of my kids, have my health, share my blessings with my friends.
My happiness started out at 10 pm with David's post all the way from the other side of the world! He always makes people feel special. I noticed that my son, Justin (29) sent me an ecard from across town. It's so good to have him nearby. At 7 am my granddaughters called me and sang their version of Happy Bday to me with the cha cha cha on the end. At 7 am, then, at my day job, some of my friends pitched in on hugs and well wishes. We had a little fun since the computers were frozen and my boss is getting married Sat. Rather perky day. we used our down time to play "who wants to be a Millionaire and get ready for a talent show for a star search thingmagigger.
After work,at 4 I went to hug and tickle my granddaughers at their house and play Fear Factor and goof around. I enjoyed a wonderful hotdog with catsup and mustard, of course. . Arriving at home, I was greeted by my 16 year old son, who was waiting with a smile and a chocolate cookie on a plate with a candle. He told me to make my wish. Of course my wish is for my children to be closer to God, my friends and others have happiness and be free from pain and suffering. That's more than enough for me.
so next... My son took off to the movies with a friend and I was chauffered off by my sis and her hubby to the concert where my brother was keeping our seats warm until we were done oohing and ahhing at the ornate architecture, and winding stairs, somewhat making me feel like I was walking on the stairway to heaven. The entire ttime I was there, my whole life flashed in front of me. This was just a bit more special than any concert I've been to, as he just knows the way to do it to it!
THE THRILL IS STILL ALIVE AND WELL. (and I gab a lot but I am THRILLED) thanks for the Happy Birthday wishes, glad to be alive!
