I just bought a bottle of Meguiar's PlastX plastic polish to clean my headlights on my car. They are pretty old and fogged up. It worked like a dream!! I will be able to see at night again!!
Can you see the difference??
I'm not sure this would be good to use on sign faces as it leaves quite a slick residue, pretty hard to stick vynull to that or get really fish-eyed paint.

I often use automotive products on my signs. You're right though, the residue would probably cause problems here. I have used different products to bring a shine back to a painted sign. One was 3M Protective Gel which brought the surface back to life and added UV protection. No longer on the market. Musta worked too well!
