The power to my mouse is temp gone. So how do I force shutdown the computer? It's a G4 with OS 9.2.2.

I tried holding the power button for 6 seconds, but it just puts it in sleep mode. HELP!!! I'm writing to the BB via my laptop over the ethernet connection.

Thanks in advance!

Mick

Don't think that will work Ray. Pull the plug on a Mac and the "Infinite Reliability Drive" will kick in automatically drawing geomagnetic power from the leyline network via atmospherically suspended water molecules.
No, I'm afraid exorcism is the only chance.

Rick,
Don't hold your power up key, just prress it once and the shut down dialog box should pop up. Hit the return button and that should do it.
I shut down mine at home with the monitor turned off. Hit the power, wait 5 seconds and hit return.Shuts it down without ever looking at anything.

As soon as you can afford to...upgrade to OS 10

Best OS available....Been running it on my G4 for 8 months and it has never froze up. And you can still switch back to running OS 9.2.2 whenever you need to.

And the iLife suite (itunes, imovie, iphoto, iDVD) is some great software. And with Macs new web browser you never have to deal with pop-up's either.

Can't imagine ever switching over to a PC.

Yeah Macs are great... my iBook never "completely" freezes up.... instead it gets a spinning beachball that keeps on spinning (until I physically restart the machine). but that only happens a couple times a week.
