I'm listening, as I write, to John Kerry give his concession speech, and I really wish President Bush could be as bright and articulate a Republican, as Kerry has been as a Democrat.
I voted for Republican candidates for every office - except for the Presidency. Bush says all the right things... but in my heart I cannot bring myself to trust or believe him. A big part of this is because of Cheney and Rumsfeld, who come across as sleazy and incompetent as anyone who has ever held power in this Republic This election leaves those two in power, and me with a heavy heart and a terrible sense of foreboding.

A catastrophe.
A black day for America.
Now that the other side has weighed in without a muzzle, maybe after 16 or so political entries which have gone unnotices I weigh in to get this post locked.
God bless America, we need it.

um Todd ... make that 51% of America anyway.
Cam, well said. Kerry had really gotten my respect these past months for his intelligent and unscripted replies during any debate or interview I've listened to.

Nor will Bush ever have mine Rozelle. Call it sour grapes, sore loser, whatever. He was the wrong choice, as we will find out in the next four years. The hard way. 55,310,082 voted for Kerry,58,878,565 voted for bush. Id basically call that a nation divided. By the way, its overcast and gloomy here today. Sign of things to come, I'd say.

I really am glad we can all discuss this RATIONALLY!! I know Barb & Steve have rules about not getting political. I think the PROBLEM arises here when people don't discuss....they start to name call and berate others' opinions. I'm glad to see this hasn't taken that tone. I didn't like either one of 'em! I voted for Kerry though, because he seemed the lesser of two evils....I worry about Bush, now with no need to seek re-election and therefore no incentive to be accountable to the people. He has already proven he is out for the big $ oil buddies and not worried about the the little guy like all our boys over in Iraq getting blown up. I really worry about my draft age boys and their friends and how this is going to affect them. Also what this overspending that our government is doing will leave for our kids to clean up. I'm glad the election is over though....I think the world is watching and hope for the best. I really do hope Bush can handle all this and get us out of Iraq and not make things an worse than they are already. Maybe he will do fine. I HOPE SO! He seems like a good person....not too sure about some of his buddies though.

I'm not gonna comment about winners or loosers. As I mentioned in a previous post, it's a sad time when you have to vote for the lesser of evils. I'm resistered as an independent. I voted Republican, Democrat and Libertarian. On a side note - there's 209,128,094 people of voting age in the United States. Nearly half (94,939,447) did not vote for either of the big boys. So, our country's leader is put in to power by about 25% of it's people. Hmmmm.

What was that Dan Seals and Marie Osmond song...
"Won't you meet me in Montana... I wanna grow my own and get real high..."
OK... So I changed the words a little.
Yes, the discussion hasn't gotten nasty but some people's comments are far from rational. 'Nuff said.
Hey Myra... c'mon... let's go have a smoke.

51 % and the largest popular vote in history... Gains in house seats... Gains in senate seats...
I'd say the American people have spoken and Bush has his mandate.
A 'black day'? A black day for you personally, I can sympathize with...no one likes their candidate to lose....but democracy in action is hardly a black day. I survived Clinton, I suppose you can survive Bush as well. The world still turns.
I think Doug had the most intelligent comments about the election from the Kerry camp....dismayed but very thoughtful, supportive and devoid of end-of-world prophesies.
Cam- I agree that Bush does not have the speaking nor debating skills of Kerry...but that does not make him stupid....it makes him a so-so speaker. Sometimes he is brilliant (his speech during the RNC convention) and other times it's tough to watch him....but, again...I don't believe that is indicitive of an ignorant person.

As far as Letterville is concerned, I'm glad it's all over. From everything I've seen or heard, it was a close, but undisputable win for George Bush. This time around, most people agree the election process was fair and accept the results.
We've let this topic stand in the hope all sides will see this as an opportunity to start to mend fences. This Family Feud over politics has caused division amoung our Letterville Family, as well as our real Families. Let's end it here and get back on track. In Letterville we are all Letterheads first.
