I had lunch with John Meeks last week. He asked about hosting the Dixie meet and asked if I would help with it. We would have it around the end of March. Ryan would be involved also. I hope that doesn't keep anyone from coming. There are alot of motels, restaurants, shopping, etc. in the area. There is sure to be lots to do at the meet or nothing if you like. We just want folks to come and have fun. So what do ya'll think about it.

Sounds great to me Donald. We have a nephew who lives in Taylors which is real close to Greenville. Did I meet John Meeks at your meet? Judy

Hmmm....Fred's meet in OKC is March 11, 12, & 13, so that should work. It'd be a blast to make a Dixie meet again (after me missing the last couple of 'em)!! I'll try to be there. (even IF Ryan's gonna be there)

After seeing 2004's pictures..a Dixie meet would be a great way to get back into the swing of a meet...the only problem I would foresee is that my wife and I are going to the ISA show in Las Vegas at the end of march, and the first few days of April.
I guess I could keep my fingers crossed for 2006!
I WILL get to a meet or two in 2005, hell or highwater.

I am NOT riding on a bus with Ray. I heard way too much about that trip.
The drive to SC isn't that bad and is much more pleasant than the drive to New England. No tampon bridge, no I-95 in CT (why in the hell does the world stop as soon as you get into CT and then go at a crawl til you get out of it?) Depending on when this meet is I may actually get to make it to a Dixie meet.
John, any color preference?

Let me reply with a big "Yeehawww"! About the bus trip for all you yankees (grin)... One of the best times I've ever had was when David and Suzie Butler, Doc Welty and a few other of my favorite people picked me up on the way down to Miami for a meet that Mark Klein hosted. It was in the mid 80's down there and snowing up in Indiana. I think it was that trip that cemented in my mind the fact that "southern hospitality" is quite simply a myth. I can think of nobody down here that even comes close to my yankee and Canadian buddies. Truly, getting there was half the fun. Let me expound a little further and say that unless you have been "chaufured" by Cosmic Ray, you don't know what a thrill ride is; I laughed til I thought I'd puke.

Your right, Ive made some great friends from the frigid north and they were awful nice, of coarse they were drunk so I'm not real sure that counts. Besides, Miami is another country. They wouldn't understand sweet tea drink'n, hog call'n, grit eat'n, coon hunt'n, pigs feet chow'n down home kiss your cousin southern hospitality there, not like we've got here in the Carolinas. To think about it, our over abundance of rednecks may counter that. Oh well, we're harmless anyway. John Meeks

LOL, you might be surprised John. One of the biggest rednecks I've ever met, and he's darn proud of it, is Guff Sherman from Soldotna, Alaska. He is also one of the most incredible signmen anywhere and treated me like a king the two months I was up there *hand painting* signs. Did I say "king"; that reminds me - I caught a 63 lb king salmon on that trip, hehehe. Also, Gretchen Wilson (The Redneck Woman) of country music fame, is from Indiana I think. They don't come much more down home that her. A lot of my yankee buds have yet to come to appreciate a good traditional southern breakfast of grits, eggs, peppered bacon and cat-head biscuits but they sure do know how to party!!!! I figure that with enough Molson Beer even our Canuck friends would be kissing their own cousins

Not the same shop CJ this is Meeks meet and Don and I just said we would help. No one has stepped forward so this looks like the Dixie meet. Why does there only need to be one. I for one would love to see more Dixie meets. Seems like I always have to go north to visit a meet. Why, you having one in Kentucky?

Give us directions to your place. We will spontaneously show up when we want. Bring our brushes and a smile. No title, computer, TV, prizes, or fee. Would that be okay? I shouldn't take that long to get there.
