Hi Hedz. Yup I got a virus or two. Yesterday AVG told me that I have Trojan Horse IRC Backdoor SdBot. I can't delete or heal it. If you try to delete it, it is in a file that supposedly is bad to delete. It doesn't show up in the boot scan.
Norton (2002) doesn't detect it and neither does the 2003 McAfee I just reinstalled. But yesterday a free scan that won't let me fix anything told me that I have the following: W32Sdbot worm. gen. i in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\zrgtdpja.exe C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\TEMP\kwjt.exe VBS/Phreal in C:\WINDOWS\6GQOAKL4\buddypictures[1] Downloader-QG Reg/Low Zones in C:\xkf.exe c:\trofk2.REG
I am not above looking at a little bit of porn, but I think that this came thru AOL/AIM which someone must have reinstalled, used, then uninstalled while I was away.
I did do the search & destroy thing and got rid of some spyware, and I also deleted my cookies & history and temporary Intenet files. But beyond that, I have no clue what to do. Last year a Kazaa virus crashed me for a week, about this same time. I guess my computer must go trick-or-treating and get razor blades instead of candy?
Thanks & Love.....Jill

Jill, Won't AVG quarantine it? I was having all kinds of trouble with Trojans, spyware, malware, adware etc. and a "sir search" or "180 search assistant" kept highjacking my search engine. I would run AVG, Ad-Aware, Spybot, spysweeper and clean it all of (so I thought) but there must have been some hidden code because it would re-install all the junk everytime I logged online.
After I installed Firefox as my web browser, ran all of the scans and got rid of the junk again, then chunked Internet Explorer in the recycle bin, I haven't had any more trouble.

Nope Wayne. It says that it can't. I was looking this virus up on the net, and it says that you get it thru IRC chat. I have not had mIRC on my system since last year (about the time I got the Kazaa virus) All I have is Yahoo and MSN Messenger, the latter of which I never use anyway. Love....Jill

Jill, I just had a thingy like that in my kid's computer. Not the same virus, but an EXE file that would not LET me touch it to remove it. I ended up going through DOS to eliminate it. Since you know the file names, it shouldn't be too hard to find and remove. Call me and I'll walk you through the process as best I can. UNLESS SOMEONE KNOWS A REASON WE SHOULDN'T!!!???
