I have tried a few different sizes for my helmets and have come across this "Wunda Size" I love it for helmets. It was part 1 of the Craq-Allure that I had gotten years ago from Esoteric. Well I tried it for size and love it but it shows too many brush marks and it is too thick to spray with an airbrush.Any one know what to thin it with?

Ryan, as Pat said, water. Just a few drops is all you need. With wunda size you'll have to get used to working fast. You have to try and apply the size with as few strokes as possible. One stroke is the ultimate. The more you go over the same area with the brush, the more brush strokes you'll see under your leaf. Also if you are masking the area you are applying the size to, you need to remove the mask as you go, ie. before the size tacks up. If you don't, the mask will leave a rough edge when you remove it. Using the right brush will help somewhat. I recommend a sable or the John Hannukaine line of brushes offered by Mack. They work very well with water based materials. Have fun!

Ok ****ed it UP! after 4 hours taping it off. I overdid it "sprayed it to wet and lifted application tape" DING DING!!!!!! Round two! Have you ever added color to it to help seeing it when you shoot it. The formula worked so well i dont want to screw it up by adding latex paint or any thing.

OK, contrary to popular belief, it's easy to work with . . But brushmarks are a big pain. reduce it best with distilled water, but plain tapwater will work. This particular size works best with acrylic brushes and if you can mask and cut your designs . . . I've found "Stretch mask" from Medea/Artool works best because it isn't affected by water and it cuts like butter!
Want a surface gild that is like glass? This stuff works . . . BUT . . first you have to mask and provide a drainage mask and catch (keeps from making a hell of a mess). use the mask I recommended above or other waterproof material. Apply size with a brush, roller, spray gun . . Whatever. Let set for 15-20 minutes, then come back with a spray bottle of clean water, spray till what appears to be all of the material you have applied ends up in your "catch" . . . Go to lunch!
Come back and gild with whatever . . Like glass! peel your mask, topcoat with PPG DC 3000, two coats, outline or otherwise! Betcha you'll like the result!

Hi Ryan, I've had the same problems trying to remove tape , it pulls up some of the size as well .Large's suggestion sounds good,I've seen the same done with 1-shot size on plastic letters by Cam B. I guess I'll just wait a few more minutes with 1-shot. AJ

Well, Duuuh, Joey! Heh, heh . . ANYTHING with John Deere logos WILL tend to smack of traditionalism to a degree . . Ha, ha, ha but quit biting yer ankle Ryan, it turned out OK. I'd be proud to say I did it, had I.
Another neutral size that will work under DC 3000 is either Rolco or One Shot Synthetic size. That's what I use when I apply thin pinstripes of leaf. Several of us old geezers use it with good results . . Personally, I use Rolco, and they also market a water size very similar to "Wunda-size".
