Today was the first day of production after almost 10 weeks of our own projects around the shop and ranch. It's been great to have the time for these projects which have waited so long. Even so the crew and I were anxious to get going on paying work again.
First on the adjenda was a thorough cleanup and organization of the shop. Everything was put into its proper place and the shop was swept out from end to end. Then we were into the new job. I pinned up the concept art for the features we are building for the new job. I also put up a new bulletin board for pieces currently in design stage. The crew is pumped about the next jobs down the line already.
I was back and forth between the studio and the shop throughout the busy day. And for the first time I got to sit at my desk in the new studio doing some design and only very faintly heard the noise from the power tools in the shop.
The transition will take a few days before we hit our full production speed.
I'm looking forward to some great pieces rolling out the giant doors very soon! I'll keep you all posted on the progress!

The work we've been doing around the shop and ranch is basically the same as our customer's work so retraining was kept to a minimum.
Well, 'cept for me... lately I've been spending a lot of my time on the John Deere working up the finish grades on the contouring we've done around the place. So I will have to retrain myself to a degree.
The hardest part is getting used to being inside the shop again after all that wonderful sunshine and fresh air.

Here in Calgary, we are already inside as there is a blanket of snow that may, or may not leave until spring again. Another cold Halloween! Can't wait to see what you are up to this time Dan! I love seeing the pics that you post!
