Hi guys, we just updated our site a bit, we've been struggling with what is "OUR LOOK" we've jumped back and forth with stuff and now we're on another look. check it out and see what you think. now remember this is just the first stages of change its not locked in stone but i like the look so far. it's kinda retro-modern and our colors are nor red/black/white. tell me what you like or dislike. thanks in advance

WOW!!! I had no idea sites were getting that impressive. I have not seen anything quite like it. The mouse-overs are captivating, the sub-menu's rolling out like that are the most original I've seen... & the special effects on the tru fire links are smokin'
I have only scratched the surface because I have some design work I need to get to tonight... but that site is going to have people checking back without a doubt. I know I'll be back!

I like it Mike . The bells and whistles are cool but not overdone. I like the starburst rollovers and sound effects. The content is, as always, beautiful. I'd like to see more of the pics enlargable though. I like detail. Good work.

I think the basic look is getting to be typical of what is going on, Especially the logo. The "KILLERPAINT" in the Ironwood typeface has been done to death, there is bad kerning on "RP" but I understand that they are "safe" and should appeal to the audience you are trying to sell too. The typography is inconsistant with Futura as the main typeface-which looks nice-but on your first page (this needs the most adjustment) and Links you are using a different typeface...click on Contact Info then Links....simple adjustment. It does look good, and navigates way better than most site of this type. On the "Retro" look, I think it has a slight flavor of "retro" ...to me... Retro is more like the following sites:

You can right click your mouse and select "Zoom In", though it may look pixelated.

Wow, Mike, I do like the Flash stuff, except for the wait for it to download. Those flaming mice pointers burnt my fingers- that's a really creative touch! & the rolling balls while you wait, & the sparkles- all suggest class.
The only suggestion for improvement, coming from a humble aussie, is to change the wording on/of your upcoming dvd by replacing "instructional" with a more dynamic & obvious "how to".
[I ran schools for 10 years teaching people how to harness & drive clydesdales, & the first few we called "Draught Horse Driving Instructional Weekends". Later we replaced those last two words with one word: "Schools" - more obvious, shorter & simpler & therefore more preferable- funny that we didn't think of it earlier... (Sept. 11th & the insurance industry ruined the continuation of the schools.) ]
edit: P.S. did you do the site all yourself?

Some of the 'click on thumbnail to see a larger version' pictures didn't enlarge.
When you click on a link in the menu at left, then have to pick 'ball' to go the next range of selections, I expected to be able to click on a ball itself, not just on the text. Perhaps you would extend the range of the clickable area (image map)
good stuff, I've got to try some myself one of these days...! (BTW, how's Rhonda?)
edit to say that the thumb nails did eventually enlarge- it must be our slow dial up connection-about 4 minutes after I clicked on it.....!

I like both versions. The flash version is slick and intuitive, and the html version gives much the same content without losing the feel of the animated version.

Dunno, Mike, It really ain't you . . I love your critters and the stuff you used to do, and while I admire your sucess with the Tru Fire deal and hope you continued sucess, it isn't where you really are. The site's cool, but it really doesn't reflect your Art.
Wanna Talk, I'll be a SEMA . . . I'd love to!
E-mail me, i'll send you my Cell # so you can contact me there. Be in Vegas 2-5 Nov.

Mike, I agree with Ian, I want to click on a ball/button. Beautiful stuff, kept me in there for awhile. Front page though is a bit "optiony". I don't think most people will want to choose HTML or FLASH or for that matter, even KNOW what to choose. Once on the home page though, I am attracted to the right hand side, instead of the left-hand margin with the links to your other pages. Is that intentional? If so, it works. Otherwise I would make the left links white white and the right hand side dulled white.

It would be cool if you could click on the "big" picture and make it even bigger (nearly full screen) to see the detail. Man, I want my Dodge Caravan to have a fire paint job!!!!!!!!

Both versions are awesome. Very slick and professionally done. The ONLY thing I'm not crazy about is the semi-satanic looking creature at the beginning of the intro. I'm not saying I'd rather see Bambi there but that kind of stuff is a little creepy to me. Great site either way.

Mike, an even better suggestion for your dvd would be to call it "The Secrets of........". That ranks higher in potential interest value than "school" or "instructional dvd". You might even add a "for beginners to pros" or some such customer encompasing nibble in the name.
Jon, nope, this is the 21st century, it's a diesel generator!!!

I'm so freakin' glad there's html and flash. Sometimes flash sites are cool, but sometimes I just want an "old fashioned" site since they navigate better and I don't have to wait on things I don't want. Maybe the idea will catch on. I hope.
