I know that many posted different ways to glass other than square recently but I can't find the post. I want to be able to cut glass with scalloped edges, ovals, etc.

Here ya go Laura, it was a tough find but since I remember being involved in the discussion at one point, I also remembered talking about glass slumping in a kiln so I just did a search for "kiln" and there it is:

Laura, find someone in your area that has a "water jet" cutter. These things can cut anything! The one I have access to can cut 10" thick steel to .001" tollerance, stone, marble, wood, glass and about anyhing else. I draw the design I want in AutoCad and email it to them. These cutters are all around. Do a search in your area.
Look here for a test piece we did using 1/2" plate glass:

Tony, I have thought about that but I am pretty rural. There is some industrial here but I didn't want to have to depend on them, pay them, work around their schedule, not mind, etc.
I even went as far as to google to see if there was a way to make a home made water-jet cutter. Couldn't find one. Thanks for the reply.
Mike, thanks for finding the post. Never thought it was my thread. No wonder I couldn't find it. There was nothing in the title to suggest it. Maybe some of you could post your HOW TO CUT GLASS INTO SHAPES in the Steps by Steps section.

There are devices for cutting ovals that have suction cups and they just make the scratch line. You still need to score marks to the edge and tap from the underside to enlarge the score before snapping off sections. There are files made for smoothing the edges of glass. Then there is a tool Danny Baronian makes for snipping those decorative edges. I assume that Letterhead Sign SUpply sells them. Call Ron and Kristi and get more information than you knew you wanted.

Check out the stainedglass folks, shops or suppliers. I'm doing a stainedglass class right now and now use a handled cutter that allows me to cut all sorts of shapes from glass, it has a plastic handle that holds oil for the cutter and cost about 35-40 bucks. Along with that is a pair of pliers especially made to grip the glass to break it along the score.
Dang, I've been struggling for years with these Fletcher brand cutters from the hardware stores, there's no comparison at all.

Laura, my mother used to do lead light glass work & she bought a little diamond grinding cylinder which could be used to modify the bits you've already cut but which weren't quite right. It was made for that industry, though she no longer has it.
