I have done 20' plus on my PNC-960...when I used to use it. But with a few tricks, don't let the plotter pull from the roll. When you unroll the vinyl, make sure it's not stacked where the end of the roll is not laying on the beggining. Obviously, clean pinch rollers or if they have been under pressure or used a lot, they may need replacing.

Yes Adrienne...Same cutter as mine....be sure to set your page size to longer than the length of the cut...and make sure to select or create THAT same page size in your print window...(depending on what Operating system you are using)
The default length of cut for the CM 24 is 62.99"...BUT it WILL cut much more than that size...You just have to set the page up to the size you need to accomodate the cut.
If this doesn't make sense Adriennne, post or e-mail your phone number to me and I'll be happy to call you and walk you thru the process. I know you have the rest of the setup correct since you can cut up to a certain length.
OOOPS there's yer number right there ....let me know when is a good time to call...If you need it.

I found out before reading this post, but I was frustrated for a while. I just bought my CX-300 and was trying to cut 15" vinyl. It didn't seem to know how to handle it. Finally I figured out it had a preset page size of 29" X 63" (or whatever). It took me even longer to understand that I COULD make my own page sizes. I was much happier after I figured that out. Whew.
Now if I can rest on a logo design. ha ha.

Unfortunatly...the vinyl buckled on the last couple of feet (12 foot section) and screwed up the whole section....oh well...it was a lot to try to do at once.
Got 'er all done anyway...
I ended up doing it all in 2 letter sections, wasn't so bad. It's all prepped for install tomorrow.
Part of the problem I have, is that the cutter wants to shoot the material back and forth at a frightening rate of speed....all it takes is a buckle in the material to get it jammed.

When I need to cut long lengths, I can select the order in which the plotter cuts(in Signlab). I start at the left and select in order to the right. This cuts from the start of the roll to the end of the roll without the feeding back and forth. I'm not sure if you can do this in Corel though, maybe you can in the bridge program if you have one.

on my pnc-1100 i got 3 LINE UP MARKS on the top roller, if i use the center one i tend to get long runs with easy 8-10-12 ft ive done with no run off. when you lay the vinyl in the cariage make sure these lines are the same front & back at the line up mark......the machine has a test feed capapbility so you can run out the vinyl the length you need to see if it will track the whole lenght.

Adrienne...Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday. Got tied up in a thing called work.
To answer your question of how to control the order in which Corel objects....
When you create an object, whether it be text or shapes, Corel sorts them in the order in which they were created. The first item is the lowest on the totem pole and each succeding object is placed a step higher. Corel cuts the same way...from first created to last created (or from lowest to highest in "order")
Under "arrange>order" you can select and rearrange the order of all objects. In the case of cutting long runs you have to set it up that the first object is the lowest in order and work to the last object being the highest.
In this picture I created each number seperately from 1 to 6 on the left. the cutter cut them in order as shown. On the right I did the same thing...created the numbers from 1-6 but I then changed the order to make the 1 the highest on the totem pole and the 6 the lowest and the cutter cut from 6 to 1.
NOW if you have a file provided by someone else you have no idea which objects were created in which order so you would have to ungroup them or break them apart if combined then recombine (if necessary) the inner and outer parts of each number. Finally...select the first object and hit "shift/page up", then select the next object and hit "shift/page up", keep toing that till the end of the line of objects. NOW the cutter will cut in sequential order and not run back and forth.
It really is simpler to do it than type the explanation!!!!

On my Roland CX-300, I can slip a roller THROUGH the vinyl roll, that prevents the plotter from yanking my little 10yrd rolls off the rollers. I dont know if the CX-24 models can do that, tho.
Also, you should be able to slow the plotter down, either through the CAMM1 printer driver or via the interface on the plotter. I slow mine down to 15 cm/s, and that still seems kinda fast.
You can adjust the plotter via the software just before you make a run. A screen should pop up when you press the print button on the tool bar (or click on Print in the File menu). Click on "Properties" on this screen. On my printer driver, I have to click on "Advanced" to get to the tool adjustment part. After I do this, I look down a list of things till I come to "Tool 1" (which should be the tool selected for the plotter, usually). If I click on "Tool 1" a text box appears that lets me adjust down-force and blade speed. You may have a different setup, tho. Refer to your user manual or the PDF user manual that should be on the driver disc.
You can also adjust speed via the interface. I have the CX-300, which has a different interface. Do you still have your user manual? It will explain how to adjust the speed via the interface in there.
Several times my plotter would just pull my little 10yrd roll right off the rollers. ZOOM! Maybe when I am more adept at this plotter thing I'll try the heady speeds like 40 cm/s.
