What was your highschool nickname.....some nicknames are based on playing off your real name, some based on an event, some on your personality.....and some are self-imposed by people that want to sculpt their own identity.
A few of mine were:
1.) Blue Gill 2.) Gillfish 3.) Sultan 4.) Bluto 5.) Dot Lig (figure that one out)

Made the mistake of wearing a tan jacket with patches on the sleeve to high school one day. You know, the same kind of jacket Norm from the TV show Cheers wore all the time.
Eighteen years later people still call me Norm...and a majority of them think it's my real name.
Got stuck with the name Vicky for a while too after an unfortunate incident in a Victoria's Secret store.

Dot Lig? That was an easy one to figure out...
I got nicknamed Doctor CasMate by one of my sign making buddies which got shortened down to DrCAS for my chat nickname.
I like it.
I won't tell you what Dana calls me sometimes... and it isn't stud muffin.

Got stuck with "Tater" when I was little. I think my mom put it on me. Her little tater. My friends picked up on it and there you go. I played softball for about twenty years, and probably none of the guys I played with or against ever knew me by anything but Tater. All my friends still call me that. Truth is, I kinda like it.

Bruce, you troublemaker...just kiddin. Tater is a cool name. There was a crazed jock in high school that everyone called Potato....why I don't know. I'm surprised I never read about him being sent to prison...he was one psycho, and he loved to fight.

Cossie, then Kosciusko (the tallest mountain in Oz), then Zit (more pimples than anyone else at school), then Stewey (as there were four Ian's in our grade) Stewey stuck for most of it, although Stewey-Zit hung around for a bit!

Well, I was "little Sap" as upposed to "Big Sap" and there was also a "Sap" and we all answered to "Mr. Sap"
Question to the riddle: How many boys did Mr. Sap have ?
And then later on, about the time I bought the BIG BOAT I became "Captain Leno" and that has stuck... That also has something to do with my other hobby of Treasure Hunting... yes, I know it sounds goofy, but you should see my coin collection, and last week alone I sold over $1400.00 in White's Metal detectors.
Now, I have another Nickname that Some of my Camping Buddie's call me and that is "Streamline". And that's got something to do with the way I camp.. I have every Non-Electric Appliance known to man, I have went to GREAT lengths to acquire some of them.. But Rest Assure, I can take off in the Middle of January to the middle of the woods in well below zero weather, and have all the comforts of home including fresh baked goods IN MY TENT with absolutly NO ELECTRICITY !!
I really think the person who coined me with Streamline actually ment Airstream... but what the heck...
