Thank you to all the troops still serving due to these incredibly ruthless cowards.
May we all never have to experience such tragedy again.

Bill, I take my hat off to you. It seems that too many folks forget too quickly. I planted 3 memorial trees on the day and they are growing nicely and I look at them often and remember. Terrible things are happening in this world too frequently and too many of us are willing to sweep it under the carpet and say it won't happen to us. I am flying to the US at Christmas and I will only be too happy to have to go through the extra security and the time it takes.

So much heartache. So many families forever disrupted and tainted. THIS is the elephant in the room we tiptoe around while making a big deal about gnats. I don't mean this about us, here, specifically, I am speaking in general about the handling of life, and about denial because it hurts so much and because in a real way it protects us from letting in more than we can process without emotional meltdown.
9/11 in my personal opinion should never ever be anything other than a memorial to the unspeakable tragedy that it was and always will be to the families of the victims.
What happened afterwards, what we did with it, what we did about it, how we treated those families, the investigations and the outgrowths of that, these are political issues that stand on their own feet and do not have a place in the mourning of our unbearable pain.

This post will remain peaceful. It is about mourning unjust death. Senseless killing has plagued this earth for years, but until 3 years ago, America has not known a tragedy of this magnitude on our own soil. We shall never forget. We meaning all of the civilized world.
I can not fathom any Americans ever not supporting our troops. To speak of courage, liberty or the pursuit of happiness is an ideal worth making personal sacrifices for.
The time to mourn our nations tragedy deserves to stand on it's own merits, weather in public or private.
The time to weigh in on what is the cost of freedom, or how to pay that price is Tuesday, November 2, 2004.
If you speak of leadership, please don't muddy the universal ideals of liberty & freedom with attempts at finding universal agreement on what is "the price to pay" to go to church, or to have those parades and picnics, fresh breezes and football games.
Democracy is a wonderful thing, & IMO a big part of why that is so, is that "universal agreement" is elusive.
At least when kept on a smaller scale of sharing our grief it can be achieved.
