Okay mark this one up in the sappy dad category, but I just had to post this. This is a pic of my middle son, Ethaen, weeding truck lettering that he later applied. This boy is a prodigy! I mean I know I am bragging on my own kiddo here, but he has taken to vinyl and signwork faster than anybody I've seen, including the highschool aged fellas that normally do this sort of thing. He bugged and begged me for months to get to help and I finally gave in and gave him some stuff to practice on, and in no time I had him working on bona-fide jobs.
Needless to say I am tickled pink with his interest. He says he plans on "takin' over" someday!
I am more than happy to get him started along the way!
Anybody else raising the next generation out there?

Good help is hard to find! My older kids never showed any interest in signs. But Justis has been helping me since he was in diapers. He is great at peeling off old vynull. He is also eight. This is today, the first day of third grade. He painted this on my garage door last summer. I know it's not the greatest job, but I laugh every time I see it. He has a very wacky sense of humor.
He is great at fixing things too. He recharged my truck battery just last week. I pay him a salary of $5 or 5 HotWheels cars a week. Love....Jill

Oh yeah, definately raising the next generation, but it looks like your 'operation' there is setting the standard.
I really like the part about "taking over"! (Looking ahead) Getting kids to look foward at what they might become and what they're making themselves into seems SO important. I don't know if I'm making any progress whatsoever in that department, but it seems important.
Also, you're connecting his accademic learning to the 'real' world. Math for laying out signs, spelling for wording, etc. And last but not least, a good dose of capitalist endeavor commraddee(sp!!)

Jill neglected to tell you that everytime I see that door, I have to say redrum in that voice. Yes, a few people had to chuckle at me for it at her last meet. But, oh well.
Redrum!

It's been a great summer having Gump join me at meets and helping out in the shop. He's shown a real love for pinstriping and has come a long way in just a few months.
He's headed back to school next week....and I'm bumming out about it more than he is! Rapid

These two are getting pretty good with the crayons, watercolors, and sidewalk chalk. They're not quite ready to letter any boats but are happy to go along for the ride...

Being the other half of the Letterhead 'Thelma & Louise' duo, I can vouch for her NOT being a nun. And I'm not saying nothing about Bill's meet attendance record.
