I would like to take this time to thank all my letterville family members for their support wednesday night.
Most of you dont know that my mother has been very sick since the beginning of the year.
Well she took a turn for the worse sunday night while I was driving home From Mike Boones place.
My mother had to go for emergency surgery tuesday morning to clear a blockage in her intestine/colon. they thought that the surgery done tueasday morning would be enough but then wednesday afternoon my mother took a turn for the worse. The doctors didnt think she was going to make it thru the night. They ended up removing half of her colon in an attempt to remove the bad tissue which hopefully would help to stabilize her rapidly fluctuating vital signs. of course the drawback to this surgery given her conditions was that she might not make it thru the surgery. it was a rough decision for my sister and me but we felt it was the only option. so we signed off to let them do the surgery.
While my mother was in surgery I was sitting in the waiting area thinking to myself, "I wish I could get to a computer to ask my letterville family for their prayers. But I knew I couldnt get to one without leaving the hopsital which just wasnt going to happen. So I imagined to myself what it is I would have put in a posting and then imagined what many of you would have said. Almost immediately I felt a little better about things and relaxed a bit. Im not religious but I do believe tha6t there is a god out there somewhere watching over us.
Anyway, my mother made it thru the surgery just fine and has been SLOWLY progressing the past few days.
I havent seen my home other than to sleep and take a quick shower since July 31st. tonight is the first time I have had a chance to sit in front of my machine and type anything out.
So, THANK YOU for your implied support.
I will update you on her progress when I have a chance.

Mom is doing ok for now, she really hasnt changed in either direction which to me is a good thing. If they vcan just get her blood pressure to stabilize I think things will move a bit faster.
Thank You to my freinds here again.

Hey Harris. You have my depest prayers and understanding as I went thru the same crisis with both my parents. . . it seems each thing thay manage to pull thru, ironically gives you less hope that they will be able to handle the next thing.
It's always sad to watch our parents age and have failing health, especially if they seem to "give up".
I can only hope that I'm making better choices for my health so my kids won't have to endure what I had to watch...

I figured it was time for an update of some sort:
So here it goes
OMom is doing MUCH better, I walked into her room friday afternoon and I immediatley noticed that she was missing something. The huge plastic tube that was once in her mouth had been taken out and she was given a typical oxygen mask to wear. Anyway this to me was like the best thing that could have ever happened all week so far. But then she even topped that off within an hour and was talking to me, OK it was somewhat hard to understand/hear her but we could communicate. By sunday my mother was cranky enough that she wanted to write checks and pay bills, which to me shows a very good sign of her feeling much better. today is tuesday and she made the effort to give me a call on my cell phone this morning just to say HI.
Wow! the miracle of medicine seems to be working for her.
Now all we have to do is get her out of the ICU and into a normal room and then I can relax and feel things are totally OK.
I keep telling myself "You only get one Mother" this seems to keep me focused and refusing to give up hope.
