Well, you're welcome! With that thumbs-down icon, I thought you were gonna holler at me for an IM or something! Glad to see that I'm not in trouble again. I had a blast painting that thing, and will post pix of it eventually...was waiting till closer to The Big Day. Love...Jill

Well, You twisted my arm. I know it's early, but since we all love to rubberneck at a good wreck, here's the banner. Figured it would get more looks here than on Portfolio, but I may showboat and re-post it there later!
This was all done by hand with 1-Shot & variegated leaf on a blank donated by USBanner Corp., featuring my adaptation of Mark Casey's smokin' logo, with CrazyJack's New Monterey font on the top, and Alf Becker alphabet on the main copy, (3-D like in the Atkinson book) and a Charles Strong Alphabet on the thank-you part. And my attempt at "DrCASual" on my signature, inspired by Broooce Bowers. The "marbling" was done with my brush from John Jordan, who once told me that I've obviously never studied marbling, and a Swirly-Q. I have about 24 hours over 3 weeks in it and it was the most fun I have ever had. Love...Jill

Thanks, Guys! Yes, I did use the computer for parts of it. Mark emailed me the logo, and I scanned it into Graphix Advantage. I didn't clean it up much, only made a pen-plot that I perforated with a pounce wheel. I used the paper print-out of the logo for reference the whole time I painted it.
The script and "registration" were drawn out by hand with a white stabilo (notice the second R has a bigger belly) I used the words printed out on paper as a guide. The bottom lines were totally winged out freehand and were the most fun part. If you see me at a meet, you'll notice that I usually just paint stuff without a lot of measuring, etc. But this had to be perfect, because everyone seems to think I'm just a Coro Queen...must have something to do with my signature!
Arthur Vanson helped me in deciding whether to outline the script, and it has a really subtle drop shadow and a black outline. Love...Jill

BTW guys, let me introduce Sharon Halbert. Her and her husband Larry, are 2 others memebers on the committee for the Detroit meet. Larry is the signmaker and sculpter and Sharon is his wife and mighty side kick.
Also on the committee is Wendy Casey, wife to Mark Casey. Both ladies are new to posting and the bulletin board but they do a mighty fine job holding the checkbook for the meet.

Looks awesome, Jill! But we knew you "had it in ya"! Can I ask a question. I love the look of that variegated leaf and I've used it on signs, expecially sandblasted foam, but we've never used varigated or any kind of leaf on a banner. Will it hold up with the rolling and reuse? I realize in this case it is for a short term use, but in general...if we DID use it on a banner for long term use, would it hold up OK? I just don't have any experience with this and thought some of you might have tried it and has some comments. What do you think?

Thanks again folks. I really appreciate the nice words. Jane, I asked around before I did the variegated. Most folks thought it would be OK for short-term or indoor usage, but not for a "real" banner job. I did clear it with 1-Shot UV. Forgot to mention that there's a bit of Ronan on it too! I was just trying to be fancy! Wonder who got the lucky job of cleaning off the corn starch that I dusted it with? Love...Jill

Thanks, Jill. That's what I thought you might say. I wondered about the logevity and the interior/exterior use. Now that you have done a test, we can see how it holds up. Will you get the banner back after the meet is over so you can display it in your shop? It would be a great example for you to point to and and say, "Here's what I can do!" It sure is a nice banner! You did a "sweet" job!!

I told Kevin to keep it (he wanted to use it as a bedspread but that would be too hot) or to raffle it for the sign museum or whatever, it is a gift freely given, from one International host to another! Love...jill

Jilly,if I ever hear you say AGAIN that you are not a real good brushie, I will lock you in a room with that awsome banner and make you stare at it for ,,,well, a long time. Great stuff! For you folks who have never seen Jill in action...with a brush, that is...we were watching her letter on Dan Sawatzky's truck at Paint the Prairie without a line or reference or nuthin'. Most telling comment was "How the hell does she DO that!" 'Nuff said. MUR

Well I can see by your new picture why you did such a great job on that banner, "you're one happy camper!" but hey that's a good thing. Stay happy and you'll always create great things, like they say life can make you happy or it can make you cry. from your work, life is shining on you, keep up the great work Jill
