I've got a client who has his name on a picture of the food he produces. He wants to move the copy around. I've got to remove it from one part of the picture and place it on another part. That's not the difficult part...how do I repair the background after removing the copy? It's got to be seamless.

Use the marquee or lasso tool and go around the type or area you want to move. Go to copy and then paste to the area you want to put it in. Detail move it in place w/ the move tool. Patch the old area w/ the clone tool. Blend the outer pixels with other tools such as blur, sharpen, smudge etc. Mike

Just to add to the above methods - instead of just selecting and moving those parts, try adding in the step of either copying or cutting them to a new layer to preserve their isolation.
That way they are easier to touchup if needed and way easier to move around and manipulate.
Once it's to your liking, save as PSD preserving the layers and then flatten and Save As in whatever format you prefer for production.

Terry, I worked with it a little last night and got the copy down in the lower left. I didn't like it there at all. With all the candy in the background, it made it toooo busy and way less readable. Whoever did it orginially, did it just right. For some reason the copy that I got was causing glitches in PShop. I could not copy and paste and keep each layer. For some reason when I pasted, the two layers merged immediately.
