Absolutely not! The vehicle systems in the 1-SHOT product lines are designed for flow and workabilty, but NOT designed to take the type of temps you would generate on a grill lid. Whether or not HOK would hold up, it's not for me to say. But 1-SHOT should not be used, even if the product is catalysed with the 4007 Hardener.

Kevin, why not? He's not planning on doing it while it's hot, I don't think. In fact, the way I took it, it's his grill and part of his inner world. In my inner world, whether it's warranty correct or not, it gets striped!!! plain and simple, sure it might burn off, but it's a play project for what I can tell, so any worries about longivity and durability are mute going in. I wouldn't hesitate a minute over it, it would be striped and even lettered, with one-shot, the best damn paint out there. If it fails, like I said before, let us know....heh-heh

I doubt that 1Shot is going to stick to stainless steel anyway without a whole lot of prep work. I'll most likely scratch off easily and, as Kevin says, isn't designed to withstand that kind of heat.
Me? I'd grab a Dremel Tool and engrave the stripes into the grille...no chemicals, no risk of damage, and it won't change the flavor of your burgers!
Rapid
By the way Kevin, what is the flash point (temperature at which it ignites) of 1Shot paints? Just curious...

I touched up silver paint on a motorcycle engine due to time once it lasted for ever! I would like to know if it would work. You could also acid etch it

Ray, what is the flash point of ya finger? Is it lower then the flash point of sign enamel?
I would have answered this question but was afraid I'd walk all over your heros, as this is a perfect example of whats said on my website in regards to a rep. The guy wants to stripe his grill hood, not take over the friggin world. As far as what 1-Shot is designed for and what its used for doesn't require such a absolute shut down to his project. I've striped hotter things then a friggin hood from a grill and also have brushed on sign enamels to places where the heat turned the metal bright red and back to 144L

I don't think the 1shot sticking stainless will be a problem. My trash can has been in the kitchen for over a year with no problems. It gets kicked all the time and the Chihuahua scratching at it.

Folks, I always respond to posts as honestly as I can. If I were to say "go ahead and try it" there's a good possiblity somebody would read the post, pinstripe their grill and when it failed, as it most likely would, sue One Shot for the: 1. Cost of their new stainless steel grill 2. The cost of the material used 3. The cost of their labor It's a good policy for any vendor to be safe about how their product is used.
By the way the flash point of the Lettering Enamels is around 106 degrees F. That doesn't mean at 106 the paint is going to burst into flames; it is used as a reference point for classifying materials for shipping and storing purposes. The flash point of any One Shot product can be found on the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for that product.
