anyone taking this stuff need to do a search on the internet of its side effects. thanks to late nite chat(zee)who told me to do this 2 days before my doctors appointment and i stopped taking ALEVE that nite!!!!
i went to a backcracker oct 02, back was so bad would take a step and my leg wouldnt be there and i would be on the ground. after his 1st adjustment he told me to take 2 ALEVE 3 times a day!!!! i did this for 5-6 months, and then i started to have red urine once in a while. i didnt do anything till april 04 when i passed a really large blood clot. then made doctor appointment.
at the dotors, he went right to BLADDER CANCER, told me to go to a urologist. then i showed him the paper i printed out about the ALEVE....he said if it dont clear up in 30 days....it wasnt the ALEVE. its been almost 2 months now, everything is normal!!!! so if you take this stuff..be aware of its misuse and the damage it can do. sure had me.....reassesing my life....

Our middle son, Ben had an allergic reaction to something and the only thing new that we could nail it on was Aleve. We aren't sure, but it was the only new thing that he had run into, that we could figure out. He swelled up so much on two seperate occasions that we had to get him to the emergency room because his throat was swelling shut. This went on for a month or so and then he has never had it again. He only took it once.

Hiya OP,
Glad to hear you're back to normal in your weird kinda way [Smile]
I'm a firm beleiver in not taking pills of any type of regular basis unless absolutely necessary. It's the old saying, "too much of a good thing...
A little over a month ago, I was taking a prescription antibiotic and had an anaphylactic reaction. According to the doctor and pharmacist, this stuff was tested and supposed to be the latest and greatest and not be reactive, go figure.
Your body is a great machine that will tell you what it needs some or when something's going wrong. Ya just have to listen to it.

Havin' fun,

Checkers

lol checkers (op = normal (NOT)) [Wink]

agree with you on the medications... had an ingrown toenail cut out, took antibiotics, got diarrhea (sp) from the antibiotics - one thing complicates another.

op - thanks for the warning on aleve though - i do take it once in a while - i'll take it less now - thanks again!

Thanks,
Steve

A lady gave my aunt 2 Aleve for pain at work. She had an almost immediate reaction and was rushed to the emergency room. During and after treatment, the doctors advised her that she had arrived just in time. My aunt works as a nutritionalist in the same hospital.

Aleve is the only thing that will make my bad knee quit hurting. But I would say maybe once a week I take two. So I think I'm OK. All pills must have some side effects. Afterall, they are foreign materials for the body.

I've taken Aleve like they were tic-tacs during my regular hip flare-ups. Good stuff (for me, anyway- never had a problem & I have taken huge doses)

Speaking of medication, a friend of the family, Ken, took Viagra for the first time and died about 2 1/2 hours later from a heart-attack. This was a total shock for us. I myself take no drugs other than antibiotics as was the case after being stung from a hornet. At 34 I begin to realize sooner or later I will be taking something for something. Thanks for the information and will always listen.

Evereyone reacts differently to different medicines!!!!!!!!!!!!

What may be fine for me ... may be deadly for you!

I have tried just about all the pain medications, and plain ol'Ibuprophen (from Costco)werks fer me (same stuff as Motrin and Advil).

When taking any new medicine...be VERY wary of any changes that you feel!

For example:
Lipitor and Lescol about ruined me....others can take them with no problems! So my doctor moved me to Zetia. They are all similar, but people will react differently to them

Over use of anything is bad....even vitamin C. Too much of anything can actually be fatal. That's why these saccrin and asperatame studies crack me up. They feed the lab rats their weight in saccarin......well duh. 300 lbs of saccarin a day would kill me too!

We are all unique. OP is living proof of that [Wink] [Smile] Glad you're ok Joe, and hope the back cracker can help you deal with the pain....that's no fun being in pain, especially when you're trying to make a living. I personally take 2 or 3 pain relievers a year. Just lucky I guess. [Dunno]

watch out for chiropractic treatments too...
after my wife's mini stroke that I mentioned on Kimberly's post the other day... I tried to think of what may have led up to it. She had recieved a neck adjustment that week, & had left feeling worse then usual... partly stiffness & soreness in her neck, which is normal after an adjustment, but it was worse then usual & didn't fade into noticable improvement compared to before the adjustment as would usually be expected. within a day or 2 of that the numbness started in her arm. That lasted a few days while it progressed to numbness in neck & later in her face (by this time we were on the way to the emergency room)

...so anyway after thinking about her adjustment I typed in 2 words on google:
chiropractic stroke

...WOW, hits galore detailing numerous deaths atributed to neck adjustments & strokes

I've had a pinched nerve that acts up once or twice avery year since an unexpected high speed rear end collision into my parked car. Adjustment have been like a miricle cure on many occassions when I was in serious pain... but the risks that clearly exist were never made clear to me, & now that I've done some reading up, I will not get my neck adjusted again. I can usually get similar results going for a relaxing swim in the ocean anyway.

Six pills a day, for weeks on end, of damm near anything can't be good for you. I've taken Aleve on occasion, never more than one at a time, or more that two or three a week. And who lets a chiropractor tell them what pills to take? That's like getting a sign design from an architect. [Eek!]

Speaking about Chiropractors...my sister-in-law went to one and started having bad neck pain. Every time she went, it got worse.

She went to another doctor and found that the Chiropractor had fractured a vertibrae in her neck.

My one neice took some prescription medication a few years back and it depleted her system of something and her hands curled up.

Her Doc put her on something else and she was better in a couple weeks.

I try not to take anything I don't absolutely need.

Glad your OK, OP.

thats why they keep it ilegal....it works and with very little side effects!!!!! if pot was legal it would put a lot chemical drug companies outa business. if you really want to understand why pot is illegal....google HEMP CLOTHING. the cotton lobby in the early part of this century got HEMP GROWING made illegal becuse it was cheaper and just as good as cotton.
doug iam with you on the back crackers...a good one is good....but they are far and few between..
