Has anyone used a roller to apply big vinyl?

I want to use a heavy pipe to apply 4' x 8' relective film to 4' x 8' painted MDO.

If you have any experience with this type of manual laminating process your input would be appreciated.

Hi Richard,

We're fortunate in having a 60" laminator that we use for sheeting reflective onto large panels. I don't think you'll be able to get enough pressure using a pipe as the contact area will be very large.
We do manually mount large digital pieces with a 6" hand roller. Align the piece, remove backing on 3"-4" on one end, roll down middle first then work towards ends. Once this first strip is down we peel the backing about 16" rolling it up, the roll helps support the sheeting evenly, roll the full width of the panel in long even strokes, the strokes should overlap and must be heavy. Continue rolling as you work down the sheet exposing 16" or so at a time.
