I've seen a few of my wife's birds die over the last 8 years. Always a sad discovery.
I'm sure in 18 years the relationship you had with Byrd is far beyond my own experiences with pets, but it is easy to empathize with what an imense loss that will be for your family.

Sorry to hear that Si. Sounds like he was much more than a pet to you and your wife. As my mom would say, Bless his heart.

Saddened to hear about Byrd. The tree sounds like a beautiful idea. You will miss him, Marty and Si, but, he will live in all our hearts forever. Thank you for sharing with us. My parents buried our dog and cats under the weeping willow tree, as now I drive by our old house and always know there is a great meaning to that place. I do believe animals have spirits that live forever as yours and mine will, and that gives me peace and hope everyday.

Losing a pet can just be devastating. My cat Max was my alter-ego. We were inseperable for 12 years and there are times I still miss him so much I can't stand it.
My sympathies to you both.

Si, my heart goes out to you. I know how very difficult it is to loose a favourtite pet, especially one with so much personality.
I remember my visit to your house, and how Byrd would follow me around like a cat or dog. How he would perch on the back of a chair while we were sitting in the kitchen. He was always a part of things at your house.
I'm so sad for you that he is gone, and I know how empty your house is going to feel for a good long while.
He wasn't just a bird, he was a good friend. He'll be dearly missed.
Big long hug for you Si. Nettie

Wow, so sorry to hear about Byrd, I had the pleasure to meet that bird, I remember he or was it a she? Making sounds of a pager and also the phone ringing, then it would answer the phone with "hello" I have a picture of him somewhere around this camp, because I remember it was walking outside the front of the house and there was a cat, I told Si hey that bird is out and there are cats around, He said "them cats won't mess with it, they know better!" What a lost...my heart goes out to you buddy and Marty, I think I would do like some have said and give him a good burial and plant a fruit tree above him. take care amigo...Cisco
