Remember that cool 53 chevy I posted about a month ago. After much hemming and hawing with the guy that would have to keep it on the road for me, we still hadn't committed to buying the dang thing. I was torn cause it had such potential, but we do need something we can rely on.
We found something a little newer, but its still a cool looking truck (I think so anyway, but the first person I told said its a "redneck" truck)
It's a deep maroon 1980 chevy shortbox sidestep. Its got checkerplate runningboards and has a fairly new paintjob. It runs good, and the price was right at $2800.00 Canadian ($2000.00 US) It even has air conditioning, not that we need it this year:rolleyes:

Hey SueLynn Too bad about the '53. There's a '52 five window Chevy for sale locally and I thought about calling you, but sounds like you ended up with something good anyway. The guy who called it a redneck truck probably wears a tie and votes liberal, so don't pay any attention. See ya'. MUR

Bummer on the '53. Good luck with the new truck though. As I was reading your post, I thought of a friend of mine in high school that had a 1980 shortbed Chevy, 2-tone gray. What a sweet truck. I always thought the shortbed chevys were nicer looking than the longbed, have fun with it!

Thanks for thinking of me Mur! Was it in good shape? The one we almost bought need some work for sure, thought at that price we could have thrown a little money into it. It did need some body work though, and at closer inspection, there was too many things that needed work. When we went to look at it, he had some of the dash ripped apart. He also had trouble starting it, so by then, Don was giving me "that look". A guy here has the same truck he restored himself and it is painted lime green. Its a beauty.
I still wish I could have bought it though. I'm going to keep my eye out for one a little more finished.

My dream sign vehicle would be a flamed-out 1962 Cadillac hearse. But I could only find this pic on Google. It's a 1970. With potential!
I have a shortbed Chevy, and I wish it was bigger for deliveries. But as long as it runs and has a bed of some sort, that's all that matters. Love...Jill

You did not ya big fibber. It was a white 1964 (?) convertible. And it belonged to Daddy! Ranalli's woulda never let you drive a hearse in the gate! However, King's Funeral Home ran a great Dairy Bar! Now back to shop trucks....ahem.... j. oops! Maybe I do remember that. Didn't you take me to see "Night of the Living Dead" in it and permanently damage me?
