25 years ago today, I trudged into the Monroe County Clerk's Office, in Rochester, NY, and paid 30 beans to register the name Cocoanut Jam Studios.
What started out as a design and illustration service, evolved into a sign and graphics shop.
It's been a wild ride, to be sure. We've had our ups, downs and in-betweens. Early on, we ate LOTS of macaroni and cheese. We've learned to adapt and adjust, and always tried to provide quality products, and certainly quality service. We opened AutoGraph Customs later, in '83. Changed "Studios" to "Sign and Design" a year later.
The people that tutored, mentored, ass-kicked and consoled me are many. Frank Saulsbury, Steve Magnanti, Bob Hayes and so many more...I couldn't have done it without you.
If I had to say "I owe it all to...", then hands-down, I owe it all to the smarts, inspiration and driving force behind the shop and myself personally, my wife Paulette. 20 years ago, she pounded it into my head that every customer and potential customer that comes through that door has one thing in common, that is, that they can't do what I can do for them; therefore, price my work accordingly.
Thank you to a quarter century's worth of paint, vinyl, change, consistancy, good times and bad, customers, friends, and the brains of the operation, Paulette "Mrs. Brush" Briskie.
Ok..now it's back to loosing money on this freakin' tow truck!
Keep on keepin' on.

Quite an achievment. That would be your silver anniversary. Had I known that I would have made you a panel in celebration of such a sublime event. I don't seem to have any SignGold silver on hand at the moment.
I hope to reach that milestone someday, and have half the talent you do.

Well done! (PS we're still frequent cheese & noodles eaters, but a bit of tomato relish, or sweet chillie sauce helps !)
