The tests came back with no new growth of infection, the xrays show no infection in the bone either. They removed the catheter in my arm and I don't have to do the IVs anymore, good thing, (after 3 1/2 weeks) I developed an allergic reaction to the antibiotic over the weekend that was most unpleasant!
My Dr did tell me, however that I came VERY close to amputation, and for a time there they didn't think they were going to be able to save it.
From now on I have to be very careful with my feet, never go barefoot, even indoors.

I nearly lost my RIGHT hand thru gas gangrene in the web space between my index and forefinger when I was a teenager. Told me I wouldn't be able to close a fist or hold a pencil (or brush???)ever again.

Gosh, Adrienne, I went away for a while to sell my house and I miss all heck breaking loose, I didn't even know about your foot problems. Don't know how I missed all that. But I am very glad you are on the mend now!

That's great news A! I'm a barefoot kinda gal myself and now wonder how wise it is. How did your food probs come about? Was it when your foot went through the floor and there was an open cut of sorts?
You will need that good foot to further along all your wonderful landscaping plans! Got any updated pics on the progress at the homestead?
another barefoot girl here too... my momma couldn't keep shoes on me around the house.. and she was a nurse! Glad to hear you're out and about dreamin up your next splash! those white cotton socks aren't a bad idea, as they get pretty cute these days with all the different styles. I love my white socks and sneakers, as they are soooo comfortable! Now go out and kick butt with your designs! happy to see ya back!

That is great news Adrienne, take care of them babies! For those who think being barefoot is bad, I don't agree. I think it is good to let the feet breathe, look at all the people who live in areas where shoes are not worn, they have strong feet. Just my opinion, in fact I'm barefooted right now and they feel great!

I've always hated wearing shoes, even socks, first thing I do when I get home is kick off my shoes.....
Reason I can no longer do that is that I have Diabetes, and nerve damage in my feet (neropathy) I have no feeling in 75% of my feet so I can easily step on glass, a tack or nail, etc and not feel it.
It's possible that's what happened a few weeks ago.( Donna, it's the right foot, besides I broke my left foot over two years ago)
It's just facing reality and taking responsibility for my health.
I still have to stay off of it for a while longer till the wound is totally healed...I'm not out of the woods, but the edge is near.
