We just recently bought a large format printer and have been excited to be able to add this to our line up. I am going to be doing my first race trailer wrap and do not want to remove every bolt on the sides. We are using cast vinyl with EZ Adhesive. Would anyone be interested in giving me some pointers before I start on a 300+ sq/ft job?
do you use transfer tape? I am going to start at the back and work to the front with vertical panels so my overlaps won't catch air.

What kind of printer? Does it have a built in RIP? If not, how are you going to get good color?
I just finished a partial wrap but didn't print it personally. The company printing it used Avery's EZ vinyl. The Avery vinyl has little tiny holes in it that you can't see but allows for a lot of stretch. I am told that 3M's vehicle vinyl has little slits in it for the same reason.
My local supplier was just in and he had had a MacTac rep in that did a demo. Supposedly he put his fist into their vinyl, pulled his fist out and showed that the vinyl would conform to his fist. He then put heat to it and it totally shrunk back up to its orginial self.
Always start at the bottom back , working forward and up so that the laps overlap like siding on a house.
I forgot to tell you with these vinyls that I mentioned, you don't pre-mask. The Avery vinyl that we used is very positionalable and forgiveable. I didn't know that you aren't supposed to pre-mask and I did a 48" x 14' piece. When we took the premask off, it pulled some of the print off.

We have a VersaCamm and print with eco-sol inks. We also liquid laminate at this time. I have transfer taped a lot of our prints and never had a problem with print removal.
I am going to be using Avery's A8 with EZ adhesive.

Hiya Jerry, I never used any of the materials or equipment you have, so, unless someone else jumps in, you're going to have to experiment. Unless you have experience installing wide format prints, I would suggest that you use application tape. It costs more money in materials, but the prints would be a little easier to handle. Other than that, Mark Matyjakowski best describes the installation method here... http://www.slamgraphics.com/tips/rivetron/aapage1.htm A less fancy page is available here... http://www.slamgraphics.com/tips/rivetron/ B.t.w., Thanks Mark for coming up with such a great step by step on installing wide format graphics.

Good Luck Jerry, and Thanks for all the information you gave me on the Versa Camm last week. It was nice talking to you on the phone, especially nice hearing that Accent that you have, I don't have an Accent do I? lol

We have done a number of wraps now. We have a Roland SolJet Pro II using EcoSol ink and Avery EZ cast vinyl for wraps. Same ink, I believe, as the VersaCam uses. No problem premasking the prints for easier application however we cast laminate all prints for vehicles to resist abbrasion and increase the life of the ink. This does the same as premask for adding some body to the vinyl. We have applied wet (rapid tac) or dry. Here are a few examples:
Nice Work!!! I want to get into the niche of doing more wraps in our area.
