Does the weight matter if that is the size Jill?
Also, what is the approx size that everyone would send a panel?
Last question... Is there any place I can see rules & regs on a swap or should I just keep to the rule of the initial post?
Sorry If my questions sound daft.. “Newbie alert!”

It sure is great to see the interset from everyone. I've enjoyed your panels in the past John, glad to see you're interested in this swap too.
The UN-official, UN-official, non-existant panel promisers list is up to about thirtyeight, at last count. Of course, that's just a guess since we aren't really counting. This includes folks from the panel swap 3 thread, the current thread & those that have emailed a note of their interest.
Golly Robert, there isn't really a rules book to check. There have only been three previous swaps, each with their own rules. Just a bunch of fun, that's what we're after.

Newbie? What's a newbie? [just going along with yer joke here Robert.]
Just curious, are my rules unclear?

NO making panels out of endangered animal or smelly animals.
NO glueing down the classified section onto a piece of OSB board.(and leaving it at that)

Hey Rob ya wee scunner! haha The panel that I sent to you was aluminum, as you know. I would advise you to use the same type and weight of material as it was very reasonable to send across the pond. I recently shipped our pal Dewi 3 panels that I did at Mass Mayhem. They were 12x18 aluminum if I recall, which is a standard size sign blank over here. It was a bit more of a cost than to send yours, probably due to both the size and the weight. It was well worth it. But a panel can be just about ANYTHING, from a toilet seat to a lunchbox! I have both in my collection. Another thing that I would like to add is that I know someone who received both of their panel swap pieces COD! (from 2 different swaps) That kind of takes the fun out of things. Love...Jill

Well Jill, I'm glad you mentioned the C.O.D. problem. I wouldn't have thought this might happen in this community.
RULES ADDENDUM:
All Panel Swap 4 participants, applying the "Golden Rule," will pay the shipping charges of the panels you are sending out.
Surely this wasn't necessary; although, I suppose everything should be plainly spelled out. I shipped my last panel and didn't have the Post Office check the box to allow for delivery without a signature. This oversight on my part made it necessary for the recipient to to travel to the Post Office to pick up their package.
When I send the recipient information, perhaps the folks involved could exchange emails to verify shipping preferences such as this, prior to shipping. I would think there might be some people that would rather drive to the Post Office, instead of taking the risk of leaving the package by their door until their return.
Are there any other strange things that have happened that might be worth mentioning?

Well Folks, ...The waiting for the first finished panel is over. Beautiful, ...Fabulous!
Wow! This is worth the work. Once I get the next finished photo, we will have the first completed swap pair, I will send the info and be able to post the first "photo pair link".
I'm telling ya, ...this is fun.

The 2nd Panel is complete! We have a completed pair. I've sent responses back to the participants, we're ironing out some shipping details. Once the paneleers receive their panels, I'll post that photo link.
Pretty cool!

Well folks, the first pair of paneleers have decided to avoid shipping their panels by exchanging them in person when they both attend the Detroit meet. The first to complete his panel was John Jordon, and the second finished was Sal Cabrera. The original plan was to wait until both participants receive their panels before posting the photo links, so each had the chance to view their new gift first hand. In this case, both paneleers, due to the time delay until the meet, have agreed to have the link posted now. So, now everyone can share in their fun. One can tell they both had a good deal of fun just by looking at their panels. Enjoy!

Holding to the original plan of ending this swap on the 30th of September, the half-way point is near the end of this month. So far, we have had two panels completed. It would be good to have an ongoing swap of work being regularly contributed; however, the lack of completed panels to this point probably indicates a very busy summer for those interested in participating. As the swap end nears, I will post a few more reminders. There will likely be a flood of completed panels near the end. Trickling in, or a flourish at the end, either way we get the panels will prove to be fun.
I know there is activity out there. A buddy of mine sent in a fly-over shot of the site. They have several big tents up, the panels are sure to be coming soon.

Just finished my panel designs - yep 3 of 'em
I really liked the circus theme, guess I'll have to make 6 panels now though, 3 to give and 3 to keep. Yeesh... labor of love i guess.

I'm just curious here. Dave mentioned above that he has finished three designs. I'm guessing they are for this swap, he did mention liking the circus theme and joked about making more, three to swap and three to keep. This brings a few questions to mind. The designs are done, but the panels must still need to be produced. (No offense intended if I am wrong about that Dave.) I would guess most to have at least a few sketchy ideas in mind by now. I guess I'm curious about Sign Folk behavior in a case like this.
There was intentionally "no pressure" built into this swap, buy setting the deadline up in September and leaving it somewhat open to change. Since there is yet a bit of time to complete these, are most just waiting to send the info in, while admiring (or fretting about) their grand works of art? Or, have they not gotten a chance to start or finish their panels? Of course, ...should you choose to respond to this silly question, I do understand the need to keep your responses in the third person.

Hi Dave, I wouldn't worry about it yet... If you give a deadline of September 30th, I feel early if I'm done on the 28th. That's just how it usually works in this business, isn't it? So I'm happy to say that I have a panel started and there is a pretty good chance that it will be done on time.

I'm suffering from great angst about participating- I came up with a design, had it gone over by an emmenant head for details... and then am flinching! I WILL gird my loins (as it were) and proceed, but that's why you haven't seen a panel from here yet!

You're right Dave! Designs done. Fabrication is next. I have been blessed recently and am having an extremely busy July! I get to letter a 28' box truck, do a sandblasted sign, and wrap 2 vehicle rear windows by wednesday!
After this week I'll start thinking about my materials for the panels. This is where I need to control my urge for perfection (since perfection can be costly), and just make a few cool panels.
Whew!
Here comes Monday!

Ok, so I actually came up with 4 designs...
I am only doing 3, I'll post the 4th here, if anyone wants it feel free to email and I'll send whatever file you want.
This would also work for a swap titled "The Red Thong Diaries"
Dave. Just trying to help anyone who needs a boost.

It was suggested (I think by Brooce Bowers) at Boone's meet this past weekend that for the next panel swap this would be a good theme:
To think of the UGLIEST word possible (i.e. Phlegm) and to produce it in the snazziest way possible.
I think it's a cool idea. Now all we need is a volunteer to run the next one! (altho the thought of having a panel hanging in the office that sez PHLEGM even in gold-leaf is kinda iffy)
I think that Dave is doing a good job so far. Mine has been done 2 weeks now and is getting dusty...c'mon, people, let's get crankin'! No excuses.

Cool, ...Darin the DirtyDag Wilson is welcomed to the fold of current paneleers. Thanks for joining in Darin. I probably should update my list of interested panel people. (People that have posted their interest in participating.) It is very near forty people, if not more. I'll update my list this weekend to prepare for what appears a likely mad rush for the finish line.
Yep a whole month and a half to go, and only one new panel for the party. I find it a bit uncomfortable to have the information and photo for one completed panel, and no one to match it with. This is my doing, and I have no doubt it will all turn out fine. I did figure a few more panels would trickle in than this, I only wish I didn't have to leave the participant that has finished just hanging . I am inclined to believe Lotti's words of wisdom above.
I have received an IM from a kind soul who has run into a glitch and needed to begin fresh. I took this news as a decent, but unnecessary, “I'm sorry I'm running a bit later than I wanted to be.” This one is more than the usual average panel project too. I'm sure it is a fun panel, I hope they all are.
I'm going to find time to get the brushes wet this weekend. Maybe I'll do a panel for the into page, and skip the computer schtuff. I think that's a plan, ...sounds fun too.

Hey Sal, looks like you guys got the exchange taken care of with no problems. You look like one happy camper. You guys must have had a blast up there.
Hey folks, we now have another pair of panels finished. I received a photo today of the second of the two panels. The paneleers have been mailed their swap partners mailing address, so once I receive confirmation that they have both received their panels, I will post links to their photos.
The panels are cool, ...very cool!
