As you know, there is a movie out called "A Day without a Mexican". Can you imagine a day without any signs? Chaos! Blank, nameless buildings and streets. Store owners would have to stand outside of their stores and repeatedly announce their wares and services. What a mess.

From what I've read, long ago signs didn't have copy on them, because so much of society was illiterate. Just illustrations, a cluster of grapes was where you got your wine.

A day without signs is my day off! Yeeehaw! But you bring up a valid point. I wish the general public would come to realize what a valuable service we, as signfolk, provide. Love...Jill

I been hearing about this movie for a couple days now. I'm going to have to go see it. Yeah people would be lost if all the signs disappeared for a day.

Sounds like one wonderful day I had in a town near Elizabeth NJ, attempting to escort a transformer to the port during road construction. Every single road sign which wasn't stolen was covered with black plastic.
What a nightmare!!! Unfortunately the one way signs were still present..
And when will towns stop only labeling the cross streets, assuming that any idiot already knows what street he is on....This idiot never knows where he is without a sign!
I'm another subscriber to the fewer words are better idea..... at least trying to read signs at 65 MPH!

. . like one day without buying gas I'm afraid it would have little impact . . .
. .. let's let the customer's try it for like a MONTH . . . or . . .
what if we all went on strike?? LOL
HEY!!! That would be a great answer for that customer you may not really wanna fool with!
" . . . .I'm sorry sir, we're still on strike. . . .what? You have'nt HEARD about the Sign-Painter's Strike?? Well! We simply MUST have more compensation for our highly-skilled trade, better hours, less flack from overly-demanding customers . . . . I'll call you when it's over . . . . What's that? You're willin' to pay TOP PRICES... you need the sign SO bad?? . . . . hmmmmm, w'eeeeell, I could just sneak it out for ya . . . . .but no... no, not 'til everyone get's your same vision, sir. "
PS!! Alicia, have you seen "Frida" about the Mexican artists Frida and husband Diago Rivera? It was SO GOOD!!
