I would like to know where to buy or get free clip art that you can sell. Clip art like the Calvin that pee'z on everything or the bad boy that flex his muscle. I am just putting together my clip art (software) and would like to add to it. Please give me some help in locating some of this art (software).
Thanks, Joe

i havent had a request for that type of stuff in a couple of years. If fact I put all that stuff in a box on the back shelf..
Tribal stuff and deer and duscks, and dogs, and special words, and lots of tears and rips now. But no more calvins or other stuff like that. Waste of money, time and material to find it and save it.

Most of us here that cut vinyl make our own "clipart". There are many programs available that you start with a picture of what you want, and you have to "trace" it in a vectorizing program. This converts the picture into a cutable file, or a "vector file". If you do want to get into cutting vinyl, you will most likely need to get one of these programs. Some I can think of are coreldraw, signlab, flexisign, etc.
People don't normally give away their files, as they are alot of work to trace and clean up so they cut well. There are lots that are willing to trade, so chances are better if you learn to vectorize your own stuff, you can trade with other people.
Good Luck, Suelynn

I never said I wanted a free ride. If you could read correctly you would see that I asked where I could get clipart. TO BUY or for free. Go back and read my post. See what I wrote...."I would like to know where to BUY or GET free clip art that you can can sell." I just wanted to know where to buy it. And....I want to sell it after I print/cut the graphics. Not sell it right after I buy it. I asked for help, not for you to do the work for me. So far everyone has been helpful, except for you and your sarcasm. Maybe you shouldn't be on this board if all you have to give is sarcasm. If it wasn't sarcasm then forgive me, but it sure sounded like it to me. Again I never asked for a free ride or for you to do the work for me.

"Clip art like the Calvin that pee'z on everything or the bad boy that flex his muscle" = pretty much every sticker design that gets sold at flea markets for the last 5 years. Most of that stuff is very easily found online with a search. There's certaily enough of them out there. Most are "bootlegged" designs that violated several copyright laws.
"I am just putting together my clip art (software) and would like to add to it. Please give me some help in locating some of this art (software)." My temptation to make a few rude wisecracks about burning CDs and calling it software aside, there are many suppliers here in Letterville who sell a wide variety of royalty free clip art on CDs. Just click on the "Letterville Merchants" link and have a look. Many have files that can be custom altered to fit vehicles, truck, etc.
It's not you, Joeseph. There have been a lot of people register here in the hopes of getting a handout in the past, and maybe the way you worded rubbed a few people the wrong way. I noted the name of your business and would point out that cranking out the same old stuff that can be found at flea markets really doesn't fall into the definition of "custom".
Welcome to Letterville. Rapid

Another problem here is sarcasm.... SOMETIMES people really intend to be sacastic and mean, but most of the time, if you could hear HOW they said what they said, they are joking around. Sometimes the distiction between the two is obvious, but other times it depends how you take it. That is one big problem with the internet, the way I see it. If you were standing side by side and someone SAID some of these things to you, you would have a better sense of their intention...and THEN you could punch them in the nose! (I'M JOKING!) No really, you just hit a raw nerve about asking for clip art here. People work hard to buy or make up their own library and it rubs them the wrong way when you want to get it. AND they don't even know you yet....give the guy a break, guys! And Joe....lesson learned? We really ARE a nice group of people....just have some quirks now and then. Check this out... www.thefontry.com They are merchants here and they are running a dynamite special of ALL their clip art and fonts for $99! We just got ours a couple weeks ago....some good stuff! And as Pat King always says "...hope this helps."

Thank You very much for your input. I'm Not looking to violate any copywright laws. In fact I'm trying to do the opposite, I would like to obtain graphics legally. A few of my customers have asked me for them, but I'm not sure where I can get them along with the copywright to use them. I don't want to copy them from others who do not have the copywrights. Like the book of corporate logos I bought from signwarehouse, which gives me the graphics and the right to use them accordingly. Maybe I should have worded my question differently.
I am a custom shop in the way that I customize their vehicle to the way they want it, including other things, not just graphics.
Again, thank you for the info. You have helped alot.

The best answer to this would be NOT EBAY!
I think someone posted Roland's website ww.rolanddga.com which has a lot of vector art, costs $1 a piece & is emailed to you in seconds.
Most suppliers have vector art packages too and they don't all carry the same ones, check around.

Joe, I don't believe that buying a CD of corporate logos gives anyone the right to do what they want accordingly. Using a corporate logo maybe fine on ones vehicle, but using the CD's to cut in quanity can wound you up in a courtroom.
Theres so much more to learn then just cutting from CD's.

You can use the "search function" on this board to find DISCUSSIONS on this subject. You can use the "merchant section" on this board to find the CLIPART you need. As Jane states:we REALLY are nice people here! I personally use sarcasm jokingly, but is usally taken the wrong way(when typed)
I sometime think that with ALL the features within Letterville. The correct answer can be found with SOME WORK on the part of the person asking the question!
hope this helps

The corporate logo CD's and other "software" that contain images like Calvin DO NOT automatically grant you permission to use the artwork! You must still obtain permission from the copyright/trademark holders to reproduce the artwork.
CD's like the Vector Art Mega Collection DO grant permission to use the artwork as the artists who contribute to those are commissioned and compensated (lump sum or royalties) for their original work.

Joe, just a little tip: sometimes it's not worth it, searching the net or digitizing a piece of clipart that you're gonna sell for, say, twenty bucks? Try a little sales tactics and tell them it is soooo out to put Calvins on trucks, but it just so happens that you have some of the newest and coolest designs here, bla bla bla...you get the picture. One customer that doesn't get his Calvin isn't gonna put you out of business.
My two cents, and since they're Canadian cents they're not even worth that much, oh well.

Man, am I ever sorry that I accidentally put that word FREE in there. Some of you not so nice people are taking things so literally. Guess I'm not good at writing or typing what I mean. You keep mentioning the word free. Why don't you mention that I also said buy. I bet if someone put up a link to a site to get free clipart that you would be the first one on it. hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!! I understand and get the point about the logo book too. The book does not give me the right to copy, but if a company ask me to print their logo for one of their trucks, and provided that they give me permission on letterhead paper, then I have the right to do it. Again, I did not explain myself well.
O.K. I have apologized to some of you who seem so rude and now I am going to drop it and ignore the not so nice of you.
And to the others, you have really been a big help. Thank you for all the links on where I can buy clipart.
Thanks, Joe

wanna see some real cool "stickers" (however they are not free), but if you have a print/cut machine it is like a license to print money if you get the $129 software.
