It doesn't have to be a Holiday, Mr. "Right."
Nice work Harris, It should be a reminder everyday. I have been in the Military and overseas, and I know how lucky we have it here. I will beat my chest to be American.
It doesn't have to be catagorized to a "holiday" like all the other american Wal-martized crap.
Do you think the terriorists have holidays? They live to die...hey, all we need now is Guns,Religon, and Engraved Flashlites!

Mike you have the engraved flashlight. I got to use it making the burgers until it started going dead that saturday night. Then i cooked the rest in the dark. Oh! then the lights came on when we were pretty much done making the burgers.

Hey Mr. "Myher", just want to make sure someone a little more important gets his notice and reverence for the ultimate sacrifice. Plenty of memorial days for our fallen to remember them by. (You know, following a little religion can heal a whole host of problems, even some of yours.)

That was very heavy! Holiday or no holiday, it is something nobody will forget! All those that are overseas and anywhere else holding down the fort for us are the true hereos. That was some very sad pictures. No "we cannot ever forget!"

I'd be eternally grateful if everyone could say a prayer or two for a friend and his family.
Last Wednesday, "One of our own", Lt. John Thomas Wrobleski lost his life during a gun battle in Ramadi. Our little part of town where everyone knows everyone has been floored by the news.
JT, who joined the Marines in response to the 9-11 terror attacks grew up less than a 1/2 mile away. While out to get the papers this morning I ran into his father who was reading through the written articles about his son. One of the toughest things I've ever had to witness in my life. Two wet collars later I was able to get a laugh out of him, something about the Rangers and the Cup.
So if you could, anything to help this family get their hearts off the floor would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Harris, I so agree & appreciate your post, and my Daddy, USAF Smsgt, Ret. Robert L. Lowery, Sr. (1922-2003) who helped to make this country free would and believed in America, and my brother, who is STILL at Ft. Riley.
We salute you for the tribute and the reassertion that we are right to defend our way of life.

Most of the time I read these posts for information on how to do something, a laugh in a busy period, or to ease my stressed mind. Not to cry. The link was very powerful. Freedom is a privledge, not a right. I was going of an a tangent but, let us not forget.

Over 10,000 innocent Iraqis slaughtered in a year!!!!!!!
You make me sick.
You don't belong in Iraq. And yes, it's all about oil and Israel.
The world would truly be better off without America.

It makes me sad to see that there is this kind of behind the scenes stuff going on. No matter what opinion we hold, shooting off missives like that is nasty. I would assume this was not also anonymous?!?
Besides, it was a tribute to 9/11. Who, other than our President and his intimates, would link that to Iraq anyway?

Well put Myra! I found the slide show to be very thought provoking & very tastefully done. The timeless quotes of our forefathers speak well of the ideals of freedom so well worth fighting for. Ideals that are clearly rightous & above reproach.
Who & when to fight is another question that becomes too political too quickly.
Only a coward would send anonymous scathing judgements. I'm not known for being a suppoorter of the way the US handles the conflict in Iraq, but I am definantly against weak people with a weak message delivered in a weak way.
I agree with you, Doug. Words that still hold true to this day by some very wise and visionary men. Growing up in the Boston area near places like Bunker Hill, the Concord Bridge, and so many other sites where battles were fought in the infancy of this country, I've always appreciated the sacrifices that brought this country to be, and the ones that have been made since to ensure that the dream of the founding fathers live on.
I, for one, will never forget. None of us should... Rapid

Tis e-mail had a name and return e-mail. I'm not sure if it's a real name or not. I chose not to play that game. If someone dislikes America that much, I'm sure there's plenty of other countries that would love to have them. I'm very proud to be American and although I don't always agree with everything that happens, I support our troops 100%.

Nice tribute Harris, but this is not the forum for it. Once again, we see the ugly, extremists using this opportunity to point out our differences. Let's move on.
