Just curious. I have the luck to work with the brushes every day as I do only window splashes. In Quebec city, there's only 3 signpainters left out of more than 150 sign companies. I never thaught I could be a dinausor at 34!
Here's my curiosity: Who here in Letterville still rely only and exclusively on their brushes and paint to do signs?
And I am putting serious thaught about FKAB letterheads meet part 2, since I still have my big place in Quebec city until september. Date would be in may as the meet schedule permit it. Let me know.

Almost everything here is painted. Most of the shops around me have gone the way of vinyl and I've managed to carve out a reputation as the "paint guy" around here. Fortunately, there's still a lot of people who prefer paint over vinyl. I do have a small vinyl machine, mostly for making masks and getting thru race cars quicker, but rarely use it on signs.
FKAB II? That would be great...especially if Andre Tardif is making breakfast.

Bonjour, Pierre... Think I mentioned this on another post, but when I first got back into the biz, I went to the largest sign shop around here and told him I was a brushie. he told me that anything I could do with a brush he could do on a 'puter. That was 8 years ago and his bottom line has decreased about the same amount as mine has increased. Do I still play with the brushes? Betcherass!

Everything I do here is Hand lettered,My home town has some very strict planning controls which cry out for a traditional finish especialy on some of our older medieval buildings and shops. I do a little vinyl for vehicles but I get this from a friendly local all vinyl shop . In return they give me any Gold leaf or pictorial work they get in )

Sometimes really envy you brushies. Nearly twenty years in the biz and never use the brush any more. Over here, nobody ever asks for painted work anymore. Besides it's still possible to turn out some stunning work using the right machinery and get through the basic stuff quickly as well

I hand letter and carve with chisels. I know my friend Lane Walker in Reno hand letters only. He doesn't even own a computer (no internet-no e-mail) does his bookkeeping by hand.
