No, not the lottery!
I have never really had direction or drive in life until recently.

I have always let things come to me.

Now I have a plan for the future. A new vision for the future.
I am 46 & have maybe 20 years to retirement.

I have recently, by chance, found my true calling to make some real money.

If this works like I think it will, It will be a multi-million $$$ company in two years.

Part sign related, marketing to resorts, It may well overtake my sign/finishes biz!

"Think big & big things will happen"
"Think small & nothing will happen"

Cheers

i wish you the best but i'm still holding out for the lottery...not that i don't have drive but i tend to let my heart rule over what i know would make me real money...being a really shrewd
business person that doesn't get all creme puff like when ya have to be the bad guy...i'm sure an 800 number would probably make $$ too but well...i aint into that.

At least you have the right attitude. You are only what you believe you are. Best of luck. I really believe it can be done.

I'm at the same stage in life and working toward the same goal. I've never once set a goal in life I did not accomplish. Know what you want and go get it!

Just because your sales may be a Million Dollars, it does'nt always translate into profit. I'd rather do less work and make more money per job.
Don't mean to be the negative one here, but you got to be careful on this notion... just a few minutes ago a friend of mine dropped in the shop, and we were talking about this very topic, in 2002 he did a million dollars in sales, and made no money, in 2003 he did $800,000 and made money, at first he was shocked, still trying to figure this one out he said.
I hope you make a ton of money Rob, I really do.
All the best to you.

I was told a few things by a very successful mentor that I keep in my mind everyday, first: profits are better than wages any day.

second: there is no better time than right now to get rich, do it while you are motivated.

third: the first part of our lives are the "learning years" then come the "earning years" when you have the skill and the talent and have made the past mistakes that put you where you are today so that you can suceed in business and charge accordingly.

I personally have learned it isn't hard to make money you just have to do more than the average person (which makes you above average) most people aren't willing to do the work that it takes to be highly successful, make the calls, follow up with the people that you meet, do what you say you are going to do, for the price you said you would do it and on time all of the time, and ask everyone for a referral....it really is that easy.

I haven't put a number on it but I plan to be totally secure in 10 years at age 55. I don't think I'll want to retire at that time but the plan is for the decision to be made on factors other than economic.
I've spent 12 years now building my present business, (third, and finally got it right) we are just ending the growth phase, the business is grown about as big as my local market will support, owns a 6500 sq ft bldg. with 4 acres of commercial land attached, and I've pretty well got all the equipment and tools that I plan on having, of course equipment will always need to be replaced but that's part of a normal business cycle. We're just making the transition into "Phase II" of the business plan where the focus will be on taking some real dividends out of the company above what I draw as salary. The focus now is not so much to increase sales but to increase profits, and it is getting easier to do just that. I've learned to say no to a lot of stuff, and we've been able to concentrate on things that bring us more revenue, at the same time we have better efficiency, more experience and better equipment and generate less waste than we did even two years ago. First regular dividend cheque is gonna be May 1 and this years dividends will be invested, and it will remain available to put back in the Company should it need it, but as things look now that should be unlikely... knock on wood [Smile]

Best of luck with the new venture Robert, you sound absolutely stoked about it, and that's a good thing.

Everybody,
Thanks for the encourgement!
It is not so much about the money part, but I would feel really good if I were successful.

And could provide better for my family.
Retirement is not that far away.

Sheila, I haven't really thought that far ahead as far as the dumpster diving goes.
The guy I used to rent from, well off financially, still did it. If it's in your blood you can't help it!
Cheers
