Hiya Heads, Not sure on how to approach this without ruffling some feathers from the "we should be non-organization" crowd. But, I'm finding that, as our business grows, I may have a use for other shops resources. For example, I have a job in Eastern Pa. that will require a day or more of on-site installations. I can handle the job, but, with 2 days in Philly, I'll loose at least 4 hours of time just by driving back and forth. Fortunately, the client is paying for that time. Also, If this job goes well, there will be the opportunity to take the same project and install it at their 20+ locations across North America. I guess what I'm looking for or I would like to see is a database of shops that would be interested on assisting on projects like this. A place where as part of the organization, you will list what you're capable of doing, how much you would charge for your time, etc. So, am I crazy for even suggesting something like this or are there others out there that feel this could be another tool for growing our businesses. Either way, flame away

Brian, this board does just what you ask if you ask, thats why R/T is in Austrailia.
Theres a profile under each of us which describes what we are to the Letterhead movement but asking for help for installations is as easy as posting the question on the BB.

Good post Brian...... I am in the same situation right now....I have sold a job in Atlanta Georgia, thru my web site, and now I need to get a Local Letterhead to help with the install IN ATLANTA.
I will contact Sonny Franks, and see if he can help, OR are there any other "Heads" that could help.....seems that you need a Permit from that city and county to install, and I being in Minnesota, have not a Georgia Permit.
I have done this for a shop out of Minneapolis who did not have a Permit in Rochester, but he had the contract for a Alszheimer's Home that was a "Sister" home to the site in Minneapolis that he did THAT sign for. I was happy to help!
WHo's out there? "Y'all?"

We are not selling, we are staying here in Mazeppa....we cannot re-create what we have here....not in another lifetime! SO Here we are!!!!!!!
It would be nice to have a "shop page" on here where whoever was interested in sub contract work for other shops could put thier info (type of work they do, products etc).
It's not about an "organisation", but we have a hell of a network here. Some do this, some do that. Think about it.

I think it is a great idea. Even when I am busy there is always time to fit in another job here and there.
The nice thing about having a network within the group of participants on this Bullboard is that you are pretty much guaranteed that you will be paid for your labours. (Always a concern when dealing across national borders)
As Joey said, many of us indicate in our signature file or profile what we specialize in.
A seperate forum for asking about and offering services MIGHT be an option but with the lack of visitors to many of the existing forums it might not even be noticed.

I think it would be a great idea. I know when we need an out of town installer, I end up looking in Signs of the Times. Those are always the big electric sign companies and many times that is not what I need. I've even had to find a FastSigns once in order to apply some vinyl.
But if there was one spot to look at on this site, I think it would be very valuable.

Thanks for the replies guys. Imagine telling your client that you have network offices located in all 50 states and even worldwide. Not only can you make arrangements for the installations, I can envision having the hired shop fabricate the sign (or whatever the project may be) too, to save on shipping costs, handling the permit work, site surveys, etc. It would be nice to use the existing network here as Joey and Tony mentioned. Maybe by adding some more information to our signature files will make thing easier. But, this will be business and it may be better off on it's own. Since there is interest, I'm going to see what I can come up with using one of our existing web sites. If you are interested, send me a note at my work email - production@purpose1.com I'll be out of the office for the next several days. I will make this a priority when I return.
