Am I the only one experiencing this? The application tape works great until you get down to about the last 1/3 left on the roll and then it is very aggressive. Hard to pull off and/or the edges tear when you pull in off. This has been happening for a while. Mike

Just a small tip about tapes in general, the longer they are sitting on a shelf (aging) or the more they are exposed to the elements (sunlite/air) the more agressive the adhesive becomes.
So, if you get a roll from supplier thats been on the shelf a while, then you store it on the bench in front of the window, well, your low or mid tac tape (in a very short time) will be just like high tac tape.
Keep fresh tape fresh, store in a cool cabnet etc. when not in use.

My take on this is: when tape is manufactured and packaged, the process used is the culprit. It streches tape with more pressure in first of rolling, to get it in-line and tracking, after that, the tension eases a bit, naturally. It's this tension that has created problem, the very action of tension, causes the surface of tape to "stretch", allowing glue to become more prevaliant. This explains first 1/3 of roll having a different tack in relationship to last of roll's tackiness. All other suggestions about heat and such are good, I use an old ice-box for all my tape storage, but, true culprit is process of producing tape on rolls.

I like how the weight of a new roll helps me unroll it when I hold the end & let the roll drop into my other hand. The last third never does that as well, so is always more of a pain. I always attributed the extra pain to the fact of the loss of using its own weight... but maybe it is stuck more as well.
I think I will follow some advice here & try out the lower tack. I use only TransfeRite & have always used high tack.
I guess I mean the clear stuff from R-Tape with the textured backing. It's nasty! When it comes to clear, I use Transfer Rite Ultra Clear. If R-Tape makes the Layflat white, It's good stuff.
