A client has two 8'x12' billboard signs he wants done for his marina. It's in a high wind area, along Lake Erie, only one side of each is to be covered. My question is this, Do I Use three 4'x8' sheets of aluminum?, alumicor?,sign board? And how would you attach it to the billboard frame? Screws and liquid nails?
Any help and suggestions would be a great help.
Thanks

Alumacore is easier to handle.

Silicone doesn't "harden and crack" as much as Liquid Nails.

Self Tapping hex head screws are strongest.

(3) 4x8s Center to be placed FIRST

hope this helps

I'd add some oversized washers to prevent the heads from pulling through.

Several things need to be considered that we haven't been brought up to speed on.

1. How high off the ground?
2. How close to cars, people and buildings in case it blows over and hits something?
3. What does the county or city code require?

8x8 treated posts 48 inches deep in concrete with 2x6 stringers. You might want to notch the posts so that the stringers fit into the grove and are at the surface level of the posts. Skin with 3/4 double face MDO after all edges are filled and sanded.
Back braces also attached to 8x8 posts burried in concrete and bolted. 3 should work.

You could, and probably should, use 4" steel pipe with 2 inch angle for stringers. Then bolt your skin on. Up to welding? [Smile]

If you have room, you might want to build the entire structure on the ground. when completed, hire a crane to come in and set it in the holes.
The cost difference is amazing. Running up and down ladders with materials tripples the job time, not to mention the injury risks.

Thanks for the suggestions!!
The billboards have already been made by the client. They will not be erected until after I install the lettered panels. There is no zoning in the area, so common sense will have to surfice. They are on top of a dike, and approx. 75' from the road, and the plan is to erect them at close to ground level.
Thanks again
