This is a full life print of a customer done on the edge, it was pretty spooky coming in at night and seeing this person staring at you. He's using it in a trade show this weekend, he say's that his Tourism booth will be manned 24/7. lol

Yes Rob it's sad, you know I have almost 60,000 minutes on the same edge, same head, in 5 years, and it still prints beautiful, when you clear coat them they look even better. This one is'nt clearcoated, it's for inside use.
This shot was taken yesterday and of course is another Edge Print clear coated with Frog Juice, I go through a case of that stuff a month, and now my supplier is dropping it.
anyway you can see that edge still prints beautifully, even after 60,000 minutes.

A few years ago, a customer brought me a life size print of Troy Aikman laminated to foamcore for some radio station promotion. I cut it out and propped it up by the band saw. A while later, I heard a big commotion in the shop. I went out there and our dog, Princess, had Troy cornered.

Under her watchful eye, I have never been assaulted by a Superbowl MVP quarterback, or for that matter, the post man or squirrels.

Neil, would you mind a little walk through on that life-sized deal.

Was that a digital shot?

How did you upsize it.

What resolution?

What LPI did you print at?

What's the best way to panel it?

Did you cut it out by hand?

Sorry for so many questions. You do great work!

Gee Dan thanks for the compliment.

This shot was done by a Professional, using a High end Digital Camera, and By High End I mean a 8 thousand Dollar Mega Pixel Camera, probably 50 mega Pixel. The image was sent to me on disk and the original was saved at Half size, meaning about 3 ft tall and at 300 dpi, but as you know we don't print at 300 dpi, I printed this image at 45 dpi in classical Dot mode, I find that the best for color vibrancy on larger prints, and I'll tell you a little secret I don't fool with the settings anymore on the edge I print virtually everything with the same settings, I guess that's because I print on Arlon 3 mil Vinyl.
I've never had a problem using Arlon Vinyl and aftermarket foils, Caxton Mark is what I now use, And I use this for all my Vehicle Graphics, imagine that, I do clear coat all the graphics with absolutely great success.
The print was then cut out with a jig saw amd sanded smooth.

We just increased the Physical size in Graphix Advantage, to actuall height, 6ft, and paneled horizontal on this one, they are virtually invisible.

Thanks

A few years back we did full size cutouts of Jack Nicholas, and two other golfers for a local resort. One of Jack's courses. We printed them out on the old NovaJet 3.

I kept an extra one here at the shop for advertising. Last summer I got a call from the alarm people around 2am that someone was in the shop. I ran right over and there was a cop car in the drive. I talked to him and he had already checked things out. He also said that he shined his flashlight in the office window and pulled his S&W on Jack. Scared the crap out of him for an instant before he realized what he was looking at.

Maybe this would be a good alternative for burglar defense instead of the barking dog recording.
