There is some more negative feeling generated by the Superbowl as it was managed and presented. Three things are being talked about here concerning the American Flag.
1. The U.S. flag was not pictured on camera during the playing of the National Anthem. There was no on camera shot of the colors or color guard during the pre-game coverage.
2. After the pregame, the Marine color gauard was promptly escorted out of the stadium. Normally the color guard is allowed to stay for and often given seats to enjoy the game. Many are taking this as a direct slap in the face to the military personnel serving abroad. The Marines qualifing for this honor honor are very best of the best.
3. Kid Rock appeared in an American Flag altered to be a poncho. Of course Kid Rock is a bit fried.

Santo,

Good points and well worth mentioning.

Let's not forget that sometime between the first and last seconds of the game, the real reason we watch the Superbowl was great. Well played and exciting to the very end...what all football fans dream of.

With all the press coverage of Janet Jackson's "uncoverage", hype and reviews about the commercials, and the resulting critiques over the way the Superbowl is being handled, the press is beating this thing to death with little mention of the game itself.

Last night it was reported by the A.C Neilsen company that up to 14 million kids watched the game and halftime show. Maybe CBS or whoever calls the shots on the production of the Superbowl in years to come might want to remember that when planning.

You can't please all of the people all of the time...but you should at least be concerned enough to try. At the least, you shouldn't go out of your way to upset them as was done a few times on Sunday...

My 2 cents...

Well now, I quit watching football several years ago after the (S)Aint's started their whining about needeing a new dome, no A/C, low pay and locker rooms without cable TV.

I was so disconnected that i did not watch last years super bowl and didnt even know the Tennessee Titans was a football team.

I came back this year and watched a super football game ony to be insulted by half time vulgar displays of crotch grabbing and flesh displays. The horse farting (yes it was funny) commercial and the implied beastiality was over the top. Bring back the artistic and creative ads. Remember the really great frog commercials?

And that is right. There was no flag shown during the a well done Anthem.

The foot ball game is interupted by way too many commercials. They hijacked the entire spirit of what is goign on. Its supposed to be a SPORT event.

And finally, There is a witness to the boob shots. A local man expected some "flash". The pyrotech was asked to fix up a special display for the "unveiling" two rehersals earlier. HAH!
Not only are justin and janet publicity seeking pervs, they and the networks seem to be lying now too.

Actually, I hate football. I watched the Superbowl for the commercials. [Wink] (the better ones can now be seen at www.budweiser.com)

There actually was a shot of the flag and color guard during the anthem. All flags were lowered to an angle with the American Flag held straight up and higher than the others.
Why aren't all of you concerned with the promotion of beer and alcohol to your children. More people are killed by drunk drivers than a women's breast.

TJ, I really don't like to dwell on it, but I was once attacked by not just one, but TWO large, wild breasts in the back of my 69 Camero. Still makes me shudder to think about it.
