Ok, I decided to sit down tonight and work on the "rules" for this swap. If there are any questions or anything I forgot, please ask!
Signup:As soon as you decide to participate, please email me at chris@wildfiresigns.com I need: * your name and shop name * email * address to be used for shipping completed panel * phone numbers both day & evening. (This info will be kept private, other than shipping info being released to the creator of your panel)
Signup deadline: 3/5/04. Yes, I said March. I realize that some people don’t sign up for fear they will be too busy and are afraid of the cajoling then find some time after sign-up has ended.
Completion date: Panels are to be completed by 3/20/04 and photo proof will be required!
Amnesty: I’m wiping the slate clean. This swap is open to everyone. This includes those who have signed up for previous swaps & dropped the ball for whatever reason. I just don’t want to hear any excuses come March.
Theme: None!!! I don’t want anyone (pinstripers ) to be left out, except at their own choice. However, if you feel you need an idea to get you started, consider the following:
* A quote * A business that wasn’t done in last swap that you have a way cool idea for * Panel about your area “Greetings from...” * #3 (third time’s a charm, 3 strikes you’re out, everything happens in 3s)Yes, I’m an Earnhardt fan, I just can’t touch this one.
The actual swapping will be totally random.
Once I receive photo proof of a panel, I will send you an email that I received your photo, the photo is ok and go ahead and pack it up. When names are drawn, I will again email you telling you who to send your panel to. Please ship it ASAP. I don’t want to put the pictures up until everyone has received their panels. I also ask that participants NOT post pictures of panels. When you receive your panel, please drop me an email telling me that so I know when it’s ok to post the pictures.
And finally, to borrow from panel swap #2 (Thanks Bruce) “Anyone not completing their project in a timely fashion will have their names displayed for all the world to see to be cajoled, have dispersions cast upon, their characters questioned, ridiculed, ball busted, flamed, roasted, made fun of, and generally looked down upon. You have been warned.“ In other words, suffer the wrath of Kissy. And I’m not nearly as nice as Bruce.

so.......in other words, I've got till March 5 to make a panel, of anything I want. If I don't get it done by march 5th, and I haven't signed up yet, then no one would know. but if it is done I can sign up and "viola"! I'll let you know sometime between now and march 5th!

They always say the hardest part of any journey is taking that first step. As we depart on Panel Swap #3, those that want to get involved, but are shaking in their boots need some reassurance.
This is not a competition. We're all at different skill levels here in Letterville. I know all too well the fear of not being able to produce a perfect panel. The goal here is to just do your best, try a new technique, learn something and have fun. Count me in Kissy.

I love working under the threat of being cajoled, have dispersions cast upon, their characters questioned, ridiculed, ball busted, flamed, roasted, made fun of, and generally looked down upon. Werks for me.

If the CNC router is set up and running by March 5th, I'm in. If not, or I haven't learned enough how to use it, I'll sit back and cheer on the others. I'll be the "loser" this time round!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed, the good 'ole boys down at Glentek have the frame built already. We'll see.

I don't know... since nobody was cajoled, had dispersions cast upon them, their characters questioned, ridiculed, ball busted, flamed, roasted, made fun of, and generally looked down upon... the impact of the threat has become watered down to the point of losing the teeth of a truly taunting challenge
... now if Kissy can string together a new & improved motivational invective that will forecast the omen of consequences to strike fear among lettervillians & serve as an authentic harbinger of her wrath...
well then maybe it wouldn't be quite so easy to say I'm in!

Thanks for the responses everyone! Keep'em coming.
Jeff, the only specs are: do whatever ya want to do for a panel. As far as size is concerned, just keep in mind you have to pack this up & ship it to someone.
Ryan, I'm not stupid, I'm trying to take after you, my hero.
Dave, NO. Decide by March 5th if you're in or not, let me know if you are in, have the panel done by the 20th.
Steve, thanks for your words. I spent a while on my initial post, thought I had everything covered, but you proved me wrong, er slightly mistaken. This is not a competion, just an opportunity for people to play with techniques, try new ideas and have fun, without having to deal with a customer.
Ray, what 'threat'? I question your character everyday and it has nothing to do with a panel.
Doug, if the incentive isn't enough for ya, there's always the Steve's Angels thing with flaming baseball bats, rusty exactos...

NEW MOTIVATIONAL INCENTIVE Anyone not completing said panels within the time allotment shall be subject to insidious behind-the-scenes IMs , chat discussions, and emails. Further, they will be given "knowing" glances at any future meets at which they are attendees. If that does not work, these slackers will be lined up and publicly paddled with mahl sticks. In the event that such humiliation still does not produce the promised panel, the theme of the next Letterville Panel Swap will be as follows: "Empty Promises By __________" (their names here) HOW'S THAT? Love- Jill

Man...I wish I could get in on one of these.
I was the very grateful recipient of a BEAUTIFUL gilded/painted glass piece from PAT WELTER of Unity, SK at the "Living Skies" mini-meet quite a while back. Abalone shell inlays...the whole bit. I felt it belonged to ND GRAPHICS more than it did to me and had to reluctantly leave it behind when I left.
Unfortunately, I'm a no talent, no skill, no supplies on hand kind of guy...which would all make for a pretty lame-ass panel for one unlucky participant.
Anybody want to swap a panel for some help with developing a strategic marketing plan for their business?
Or are there any 'heads in the BARRIE, ONTARIO area who want to teach a grunt how to paint or gild or something?

Jon, I was just imagining that scenario before I got to that line of your post. I'm sure you could get a better panel if I stay out of the way though... & I have another panel in the fire I have to finish before this swap starts.
I copied your number down off your post inquiring about my status on that "legacy wall" project (don't know if you saw, but I did reply)I plan to call to ask more about your Marketing Partners career.
I'll need a reason to do my upcoming physical therapy, so count me in. I'm having my paintin' arm put in for a rebuild on wedensday. If they give me anything good to help my attitude, maybe I'll do my design while under the influence, might help my creativity! LOL

I've got a bunch of emails already and as they come in, I'm sending everyone a quick one so they know I got it. If you emailed me and haven't gotten a response, I haven't gotten your email.
Jill, I love your motivational incentive, but you forgot the flaming baseball bats, rusty exactos poked in eyes..
Bill, I know that feeling about your own sign. I have a couple ideas for my shop sign, but figured I'd do some little experiments first and haven't finished those yet either.
Terry, Bummer. But you've got til March 5th to sign up, so if you should find a few hours and have an overwhelming urge to sling some paint...
Jed, it's amazing what being under the influence can do to ya. When I've drank so much that I'm babbling and can't stand up without leaning, I shoot an amazing game of pool. Wonder what that would do to my hand lettering.... yet, another experiment.

I just couldn't do it. There were over 20 some people who couldn't live up to their word. It doesn't mean I don't like these people anymore.
It didn't really did have quite the impact that non-compliers had in the first swap. No one in the second swap didn't get one if they sent in the proof. They got a name of the one that came in just before them. I thought it would be cool that the one you sent your panel was the one that made yours. Some people didn't think so. Too bad.
What really made me angry was the people in the first swap that got a panel and then stiffed someone. The guy I made that awesome sign box for was A BIG STIFF. I really don't want to say who it was but if you look closely you can make out Scot Reedy's name.
Hey, enough of the past....
Count me in this swap. I will think of something cool to do. I will have a great time doing it.
Let the swapping begin!
